Boycott Air India & Indian Airlines (by Satheesh Kumar, Muscat)
As all of you are aware, Air India has once again denied justice to the south Indian sector, by declining to start a low fare airline. The majority of the people working ?in the Gulf region belong to middle or lower income group and these people pay ?from their pockets to purchase tickets once in two or three years to travel home to ?see the dear ones. ?
For Example at the moment Air India charges around UAE Dirhams 2,200.00 (IRS 26,400.00) ?for a round the trip journey from Abu Dhabi to Trivandrum and even more to ?Cochin and Calicut, this is for a 3? hour journey, Whereas, the lowest fare to ?London Heathrow from Abu Dhabi is Dhs. 2,160.00 and this is for 9 hour journey.
?At least now we, INDIANS should unite and protest against this unjust and big ?brother attitude Air India. We are not asking you to take to the streets for protesting ?but we can protest by boycotting Air India and Indian Airlines, we must pledge ?that we will not travel by Air India for any reason until the fares are reduced. ?
We will give you an example of how an airline reduced the fares by a similar protest, ?as you know Pattans in the Gulf are one of the low paid category and illiterates but ?they were united when their national carrier charged them exorbitant fares, each ?person decided not to travel on PIA and how they spread the news is by word of ?mouth, each person told the other one not to travel by PIA slowly the news spread ?and the passengers dropped to single digits, just then the airline realized the effect ?of this protest and they reduced the ticket fares.?
Similarly, we must all boycott Air India and Indian Airlines until they reduce the ?fares. It is because of these two airlines that the other airliners too hike the prices ?and refuse to bring it down. Air India is surviving on our money and if we boycott ?it will definitely make a big difference. ? Forward this message to as many INDIANS as possible.
