15..7..04 I am the Group MD of Teejan Group, Says Ameer Ahmed
Chief Editor
Kerala Monitor
Dear Sir,
I have noticed a news item in Kerala Monitor, probably pertaining shifting of the base of my operation to Dubai. I am sorry that the news was built around wrong presumptions. I am a person who respects the media and am therefore perturbed that you have not cared to verify the facts with me, in a matter which personally concern me and more importantly because you have disregarded the basic ethics which warranted that you should do so. Though I have shifted my headquarters to Dubai, I keep visiting Muscat once or twice a month, as I continue to be the Group Managing Director of the parent company, Teejan Trading & Contg. Co. LLC, Sultanate of Oman.
My address in Dubai is:
Ameer Ahamed
Managing Director
Bridgeway Teejan Contg. Co. LLC
PO Box:28737
Dubai - U.A.E
Ph: 00 9714 268 33 20 Mob: 00 97150 55 88 142I am also heading Bridgeway Electromechanical & Decoration LLC as well as Teejan Trading Est. Dubai, both as CEO.
I give below the reasons for my shifting to Dubai. It is neither an " exit " nor for any of the reasons you had insinuated .
1. As you know Teejan is a diversified business group. We have grown, from humble beginnings, over the years, to the present stature, of a multi-disciplinary, multi-national group of companies. Teejan aspires to grow bigger, and from strength to more strength for which we have been scouting around and have found our neighbouring country Dubai to be a potential location. That is the major reason for the move.
2. In Teejan Group, I am an official investor. Besides investment in Oman, my Omani partner and me also have investments in India as well as in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. We are having businesses in Dubai for the last 12 years, which probably Kerala Monitor is not aware of. It is only to expand the business further I have now moved.
3. I do not understand what did you mean by declining business. Our turnover has grown year after year, consistently. As for Omanisation, we welcome it and consider it our bounden duty to participate actively in Omanisation. For us it is a gesture of gratitude and reciprocity which had nurtured us all these years. We are also committed to find appropriate alternate avenues for our long serving expartriate staff, either in Oman or in any of our subsidiaries and associated companies spread over in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and in India, if ever the need would come.
Your allegation linking me with the former Ambassador of India, Mr. K.M. Meena is unfortunate. Kerala Monitor had earlier come out with the story of who was instrumental in Mr. Meean's exit from Muscat. Therefore, I don't think it is necessary to elaborate on it.
As regards to your allegation of me being a king maker, I should clarify that I am neither a king maker nor aspire to be one. Also, I am not a person who runs after such positions. But for the pursuation from the concerned authorities and my own sense of commitment to social causes, I would not have accepted the role of a Director in the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman in the committee. Today, I am proud that before leaving the current Board of Directors of Indian Schools, I could bring back the Muladha School affairs to normalcy and hand over to safe hands.
Even though I am not a regular reader of Kerala Monitor, I do get information from my friends occasionally about what used to appear in your portal. Media is a strong instrument for social change. It should not stoop to the level of " Yellow Journalism " Hope you will convey my concern to your readers through Kerala Monitor to remove the misconception.
I wish Kerala Monitor all the best in its future endeavours.
With regards,
Ameer Ahamed
