It is a known secret that many teachers provide private tutions outside the School for making extra money. They, at times, compel students and parents to take private tuitions and pay very little attention at the class. Some of the teachers even tend to give priority and special consideration to children coming from elite background. Strict displinary action must be taken against these teachers and ensure that the School atmosphere is not corrupted.

Any excercise of COMPROMISE ought to be for the benefit of the school and the children and not for their downfall and downslide.
There can never be a COMPROMISE on the issue of continuation of this Principal in this school. He has failed in his duties as a head of the institution and he has brought disgrace to this school. He has constantly been a troublemaker and has never allowed this school to function smoothly.HE HAS TO BE REPLACEDOnce he is replaced, yes the question of COMPROMISE will never arise. Could you expect a person who has been demoted twice as a mere teacher, to carry on working in an institution?

Respected Madam
This is my second message to you.I am urgently sending this message to you because I just received information from the inner circles(authentic sources) of the School Management that they would pretend to accept some sort of a compromise with the Board of Directors,to avert any disiplinary action that could be initiated against them.I believe they have worked out strategies so that if some sort of deal/compromise is reached with the Board they could survive and then later work out something better for having their pound of flesh.I am also given to understand that this move is being articulated the Principal Mr.Abraham Mathew.(for which he is trying to get the support of some parents & well-wishers)The Principal has been able to fool the Board in the past with such crocodile tears and so called "lets bury the past"talk but he is such a vindictive & revengeful person,he turns the table so fast and would cause the damage even before the authorities realise of whats happening!
I have personally seen him take revenge against all those teachers & parents who have spoken against him in the past.We parents have told faith in you,Madam.We believe that as an able administrator you would bring sanity to the school with the immediate removal of the Principal and an immediate apppointment of a competent Principal.We parents wouldn't mind even if a senior teacher from Indian School Muscat is deputed to look after the affairs at Indian School Muladha.

Nobody is against the removal of the present principal or SMC. Whether you agree or not, most of us, parents are to blame for this mess. If you take any principal and put them in Muladha, they will either end up same like Mr. Abraham or extreme like Mrs. Suhasini. Muladha can't dream of a great guy like Mr. Joshi. The quality of parents are one of the issues.
You want to change SMC, WHO WANTS TO GET IN TO THIS DIRTY JOB? BELIEVE IT OR NOT, NOBODY WILL LET YOU WORK! SAMETHING WILL HAPPEN WITH THE NEW PRINCIPAL & SMC, UNLESS EVERYBODY COMPROMISE. We have lot of people with selfish interst around this school. Think long- term. TAKE EVERYBODY WITH YOU, atleast try!!!!Nobody want incompetant principal or teachers. We should be able to terminate Principal or teachers if they don't perform. Let it be decided by Academic experts- let them RFEVIEW EVERYBODY'S RECORD AND CONDUCT PERSONAL INTERVIEWS!! Why talk of compromise now after all the damage was done.Such internal-fightings have become a feature of Indian school Muladha for the past few years which has greatly affected the studies of our children.

We have seen enough!The incompetent Principal has been the mainly responsible for all this mess,so its high time he is shown the door because as in the past if no proper surgery is done,once again after some months the same nature of this man will surface,we simply can't go on making compromises on the deteoriating educational standards in the institution.
If we had a Professional Principal like Mr.Joshi,it would have made sense to talk about a compromise,but it meaningless to talk about compromise to save the ASS of an incompetent and useless Principal like Mr.Abraham Mathew.If the Board wants they can appoint him in some remotest part of the interior region,but we simply don't want him here at Muladha,our kids have suffered enough under this person.I can infact vouch for the fact that quality of education has gone down and there is absolutely no professional monitoring of the teachers being done.The latest class X and Class XII Board Examination Results clearly reflect the poor standard of education in the school.If a clean-up of the institution has to be done,it should be done proper,there no point once again making compromises.

"The BoD is the only authority responsible for all school matters to the Government of Oman"- We Parents were just waiting to hear this statement from the Hon'ble Chariman,Board Of Directors,since most of us were not too sure of the chain of control in Indian Schools.
We Parents are also highly delighted by the bold and ethical approach taken by The Chairman,Board of Directors in untangling the mess created by the Principal and SMC members at Indian School Muladha.
The Principal is the main culprit,he has been instrument in creating such situation even in the past,as a matter of fact "Such cheap politics"has been the feature of his "survival" at Indian School Muladha.He is practically well-versed in creating such situations to divert the attention of the school authorities from his "Mismanagement of the School".
Almost all the educated parents form the south-Batinah region,would fully support you in your latest efforts to clean up the institution.
Our humble plea to you, is to give us an EFFICIENT PRINCIPAL and REMOVE the present Principal.(PLease don't just demote him,coz he's so shameless he'll stay.

Thank you Madam for your note. Since you have come on line, Is there any room for compromise without dragging this issue for long. I think it would be bad for the students(board exams), if bring too many changes half way through this year.
The core issue which the school face now as I understand is, teachers facing harassment by the Principal and their work overload and pay.
Shall I propose the following for the settlement of Issues(temporarily, atleast) as below;
To solve the problem,
1. SMC should recognise that teachers do have a problem and that needs to be addressed.
2. Teachers should recognise that they are employees of an organisation and the style and ways of functioning of the either Princy or SMC, sometimes may not be to their taste. We, parents also work for somebody in situations, even difficult than these.
Madam, we have to create a win-win situation whereby the self-respect of all concerened are kept.
1. Teachers withdraw demand for removal of Princy
2. SMC reinstate 2 teachers
3. Form an expert commitee to study the problems (inclusives of points 1 & 2 above and what I mentioned earlier + other issues) and come up with solutions.
(We need to come up with No. of members + who?)4. Implement the commitee recommendation from the next academic year.(competency of all teaching staff & Princy)
A note to SMC: Dear friends in SMC, We respect you for your good intentions. You have done lot of new things which we appreciate. But more important than anything is, motivated teachers and transparency in management. We want both. You will gain more respect if you could ensure this. I don't believe in changing you all will be the only solution. Your agressiveness in not respecting BOD shows, how capable you all are. You need to re-route it for positive things. We like and respect- people who respect authorities whether it is teachers or SMC !!!!

The fact that compensation has to be paid under any circumstances to the teachers is evidence of the SMC’s violation of the Labour Laws of Oman. More importantly , it is proof that the teachers are victims and that the “termination” is unjustified, arbitrary and illegal.
The law requires them to be reinstated. The BoD is the only authority responsible for all school matters to the Government of Oman
It is indeed shameful if this message is from one of the SMC members. Members are expected to exhibit and reflect the professional / managerial / administrative expertise that justified their nomination to the SMC. To speak in these terms of fellow Indians and about teachers, reflects unacceptably poor standards and petty minds. Our children cannot have respect for Teachers if SMC members treat our teachers in this manner – a prescription for academic suicide.
It is regrettable that the member has not hesitated to embroil the Govt of Oman’s Labour Official into this deliberate misrepresentation. No one has the right to undermine the respect and dignity of another human by writing in such a disparaging manner, even less about a teacher. Have we forgotten our roots? Guru is supreme in our culture.
Whilst this forum is not the appropriate platform to respond officially to such scurrilous writing, we are taking this extreme step to restore the dignity and self-respect of the two unfortunate/ victimised teachers.
1. By their own admission, the SMC have been ordered to pay a financial “compensation” to each of the two teachers. This is proof that the SMC / School Management that has been found ‘guilty’ by the authorities. The Labour Officials did not accept the rationale, justification or documentation for termination submitted by the SMC and the lawyer. The Labour official has not asked for the teachers to be “thrown out”. The case , at worst may be referred to a higher court.
2. By spending considerable community funds on engaging a lawyer to defend a position that is indefensible because the Laws of Oman are being violated to perpetrate a gross injustice and deny the rights guaranteed by HM, is gross misuse of community resources and demonstrates irresponsible behaviour by the Trustees.
3. It is pathetic that a School run under the aegis of the Embassy is violating the Labour laws and making all efforts to deny the rights of the teachers when the Embassy’s primary responsibility is to protect every Indians rights with respect to their employer and the conditions of employment. How can the Embassy be placed in such a compromising position?
4. The SMC has brought shame and humiliation upon the school, the BoD and the Embassy by their actions in arbitrarily and unjustifiably terminating the teachers and thereafter publicly attempting to defy the BoD’s decision. The fact remains that the BoD is the only authority recognised. By the Govt. of Oman This fact is clearly enunciated in the Min Decision and the Constitution.
5. The Laws of the Sultanate are exemplary and we can be assured that justice will be delivered.
6. The Basic Statute of the State – Sultani Decree no. 101 /96 and the enlightened Labour Laws guarantees the rights of every resident of this hospitable country. Article 25 states “Litigation is a protected right and guaranteed…” so wisdom will prevail and the SMC will not be permitted to usurp this right from the teachers especially when it is a clear case of injustice and violation of laws.
Article 61 states “The supremacy of the Law shall be the basis of governance in the State” whilst Article 71 enunciates “judgements shall be issued and executed in the name of His Majesty The Sultan. Omission to execute or obstruct the execution of these judgements… is a crime punishable by law”.The SMC members should realise this before it is too late.

"By now all of you must be aware of the long story of the termination of the two teachers of Indian school Muladha. We were asked to leave by 24-06-2003 without any valid reason! We were so shocked to receive the termination letter signed by the principal which just stated that our service with the school is being terminated due to unsatisfactory service. We approached all concerned authorities for an explanation but nobody had an answer. The board member-in-charge said that the decision was taken by the SMC and he would not interfere in the matter. The SMC said that the decision was taken based only on the reports submitted by the principal. We went to the Honorable ambassador of India, we approached the Ministry of education Oman and also we sought the interference of the Oman government’s labor department to get justice.
The labor dispute office has clearly stated that our terminations are against Omani labor laws and the reasons for termination were found invalid and advised the school to settle the dispute by reinstating us. But the school authorities claim that they ‘do not want us’ and so were offering to pay few months salary as settlement. After all this struggle, the new BOD under Mrs. Manjula Sooresh after a meeting with the SMC finally decided to reinstate us with immediate effect. BUT IT IS SHOCKING THAT THE SMC IS DEFYING THIS ORDER. They are just trying to complicate the matter further and we believe that the Board member-in-charge is also supporting them in this issue. How could the SMC refuse to reinstate us when the BOD has decided to take us back with immediate effect? Now what are we supposed to do? Where do we go? We know very well that if the case goes to higher court we would be reinstated as well as compensated and may be that is our last hope!"

At this rate the Ministry officials might intervene and totally close down the school,lets not forget that 4 years back when the previous SMC under the leadership of Mr.Jamal had built a school Arch(Jamalian Style),the authorities from the Musanah Wilayath threatened to close down the school if the Arch was not bought in 24 hours.The SMC had no other option but to bring down the Arch, much to the disgrace of the whole school community.I think the Principal and SMC members are now it seems are bent on creating a similar situation.(coz they have nothing to lose)Hope the BOD take a note of this seriously.

A dark cloud of unrest still hangs over the state, which witnessed the second day of violence following clashes between police and the pro-left student organizations. The hartal has been organized against the educational policy of the UDF government, which is favouring privatization in the sector. Following the first day of violence to control the march by students, on the 7th of August, a hartal was declared for the 8th of August. The dawn-to-dusk hartal called by the LDF hit normal life in many districts, especially Thiruvananthapuram. The UDF Government representative Umman Chandi is scheduled to meet left student leaders on Sunday. Despite hopes for an early settlement to the vexed problem, the strike is all set to enter the third day.
