Bush, PM Blair, CNN & BBC please ! !
Dear KM,
Since the capture of Saddam few days ago, though I feel along
with the entire wolrd, much relief, looking at the events that
took place recently, I am thinking of reversing my views and
our KM readers may kindly correct me if my new thinking is wrong
or inaccurate. I was very much supporting Iraq War and Saddam's
regieme change till Saddam was captured few days ago.
But, looking at the later part of events, I felt that Saddam
should not be held entirely responsible for all the crimes committed
in that country for the past 32 years or so. A Chienese proverb
says to consult atleast 3 elderly people if you would like to
conclude a decision and when I spoke Saddam's issue with more
than 3 senor citizens of this world, they all agreed with my
views and points which I append below :
When Saddam was captured like a rat, in that hole underground,
according to BBC World TV reports, Saddam said to one of the
American soldiers these worlds - I AM THE PRESIDENT OF IRAQ AND
I WANT TO NEGOTIATE. This clearly shows that Saddam was even
unaware of his own regieme's collapse almost 8 months ago. When
Mr. Bush gave Saddam an ultimatum to leave Iraq for exile prior
to the commencement of the Iraq War, Saddam might not have even
got that news or message. What I feel now is that all the 7
or 8 doubles of Saddam were only ruling the country all these
years and none of them are to be seen now. All the video clips
showed those doubles to be very young and energetic where as
the real Saddam whom we see now is a real old man (?)
I wonder if the real Saddam is that tough to kill or shoot his
people in thousands. If he is, then why he did not resist atleast
by firing a few shots inspite of having two AK-47 riffles and
one pistol in his possession (which were given to him and not
kept by him it appears). This gives us a benefit of doubt if
Saddam knows to fire a riffle or pistol at all as the pictures
on TV we always saw him firing into the air, an outdated barrel-gun
only. Another theory says that Americans have drugged him in
the hole with gas so that he could not offer any resistance.
The rumour also goes around that Saddam was captured many days
before and to be more precise, around the thanksgiving day when
President Bush paid a flying surprise visit to Iraq for a couple
of hours. But the initial reports also said Saddam was very talkative
and cooperative after his capture which might not have been possible
if he was really drugged.
My conclusion is that Saddam must have given certain blanket
instructions/orders only to his (Baath party) people under him
which is a common practice in this Gulf/Arabic nations and the
people around him must have taken the advantage and the law into
their own hands and in the name of Saddam they started ruling
the country with all the attrocities committed. Saddam must
have also told his followers and so called loyalists including
his 2 sons to get rid of any resistance in the regieme. Accordingly,
they must have kept Saddam like a "photo frame" in
the underground and his informants must be giving all good news
only to him. That's why, even now, after his capture, Saddam
is still defiant and refuses to accept that he has done any unjust
to his people. Even in this country, the so called Sheikhs etc.,
having given blanket instrucitons/orders to their management
does not know what attrocities are taking place in their respective
groups. Such management staff (mostly expats) do not even allow
people to directly approach those Sheikhs as they are afraid,
their follies will be exposed. So, matters go up to courts yet,
no proper justice is given as they influence with these big Sheikhs
names to get away as they like. Atleast, one case is now heading
for a serious legal battle and our KM readers please watch this
space.
It appears to me that Saddam was asked to hide simply in that
hole and the selfish Baath party figures must have assured Saddam
that they will fight the war. That is how, Saddam was not having
any rations or bodyguards and much weapons even. He had American
(Mars) Chocklets with him which proves, he was not an anti-American.
Even the issue of WMD may not be clear or known to Saddam himself.
His ministers including the Comical Ali must have been acting
on middle men's directives only as if they were coming from Saddam
himself. If Saddam was guilty like any other criminal leaders
of the world, he would have been well prepared to end up his
life with cynide capsules or other just like the Indian Prime
Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi's assassination plotters without getting
captured LIVE by Americans. I feel Saddam's name only was used
to terrorise his regieme Iraq and it still continues even after
his capture. In normal course, once the leader is captured,
all his loyalists and followers usually surrender or disappear
into the thin air. But they are still continuing the fight means,
they have much more powers than Saddam ever had. The KM's report
elsewhere shows that these figures are now eliminating top leaders
of Saddam's regieme just to destroy evidences.
Having learnt bitter lessons from Gulf War (Kuwait-Iraq) Saddam
might not have opted for the Iraq War but his illeterate Baath
party showing full support for Saddam must have dragged him into
the consequences he is facing today.
I feel a worldwide survey must be now conducted to get peoples
comments and points of thinking based on the above facts. Any
comments or justification for Saddam's fate may please be posted
on this site which I would like to forward to President Bush
and PM Tony Blair to help them take right decisions in this issue.
