Guidelines formed for Self Finance professional College admission

Thiruvananthapuram Mar 23: New guidelines were formed for to self finance professional colleges in Kerala. Various strategies have been suggested for Engineering, MBBS and other courses. According to the Supreme Court verdict, a commission had been formed under the Charimanship of Rtd Justice KT Thomas for formulating these guidelines. According the guidelines formulated, there would be separate interview for the students who wish to seek management seat. There would be no interview for admission to MBBS and other courses at self finance colleges. The consortium of self financing managements would conduct the entrance examination and admissions will be done according to the rank list. The marks of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology would be added to prepare the rank list.

The commission had asked to consider the marks of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics while preparing the rank list for interview in Management seats. The self financing engineering college managements had agreed to admit students to their institutions from the rank list prepared by Entrance Commissioner. Kerala rejects NWDA's proposal to divert water to TN

New Delhi Mar 23: Kerala Irrigation Minister T M Jacob, who attended the 20th Annual General Meeting of the National Water Development Agency(NWDA), today rejected Agency's proposal to divert water from Pamba-Achenkovil rivers to Vaippar area of Tamil Nadu. He told reporters that if the proposal is implemented, 2,004 hectares of land in the state, including forest land will be submerged and also about 12 drinking water schemes that function with the water from these rivers and cultivation in 37,000 hectares would be affected. The proposal is detrimental to the interests of Kerala and hence cannot be implemented at any cost, he added.

According to the report of the Pamba-Achenkovil-Vaipar link project prepared by the NWDA, the transfer of 20 per cent of the surplus water from these rivers of Kerala to Tamil Nadu was mentioned.According to Mr. Jacob, the report was according to the study made 20 years ago and the Agency had not taken into account subsequent changes in the availability and consumption of water. -Keralamonitor.com
