They are not the first group of American or British soldiers to have their tours of duty extended in Iraq or Afghanistan," writes Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya in Global Research. "The United States seriously considered sending airborne troops to seize oilfields in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi during the 1973 Arab oil embargo," said media reports quoting a top-secret British intelligence memorandum released yesterday. It also revealed that the US was planning to replace some disobedient Arab leaders in the Gulf region The US considered various options including the replacement of Arab rulers with "more amenable" leaders. The March to War: Iran Preparing for US Air Attacks

A war against Iran is one that could also include military operations against Syria. Multiple theatres would engulf many of the neighbors of Iran and Syria, including Iraq and Israel/Palestine. An attack on Iran would be of a scale which would dwarf the events in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Levant. A full blown war on Iran would not only swallow up and incorporate these other conflicts. It would engulf the entire Middle East and Central Asian region into an extensive confrontation. Read More from the Russian Source

KM learns that two leading English newspapers from Dubai are undergoing management changes. As earlier reported by KM, a newly floated English tabloid with a good readership of the native English speakers has been up for sale . The rumour mill says the free tabloid has been taken over by another leading media group with similar interest in English newspaper business. It was a recent court verdict that caused the downfall of a newspaper baron, who lost a family dispute case to a female member of the business family. The ownership and management changes in this paper are leading to drastic changes in the English print media scene. Even the first eveninger posted several changes. The Public Relations firm which took over the marketing right left the new paper even beforethe agency could bring in any major advertisment revenue . More the merrier and the consolidation of media ownership is the new trend.. Job hopping journalists have a good time ..Another English newspaper from Sharjah is also undergoing changes ..

London Bomb Plot A Stunt to Widen Middle East War Involving Iran, Syria

Taking the world for a ride to support the US-UK-Israel led "war on terror" and justify the ongoing aggression and killing of innocent children, women and aged people in Lebanon, a sovereign independent country with a democratically elected government as recommended by Mr.George Bush and Tony Blair, the neo conservative British-American-Israeli intelligence has made one more publicity stunt! Anybody remembers the fake media campaigns unleashed by the CNN and BBC and other western media outlets just before the US army and air force invade Iraq? The American and British governments repeated lied to their own citizens and to the entire world represented by the United Nations, at the top of their voice that Saddam Hussein possessed the so called Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) including nuclear bombs which could hit London or New York within 30 Minutes! Saddam Hussin who was accused of having close links with Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda is overthrown and is undergoing a trial for killing "innocent civilians". Read More about Selling Wars

Terror Plot Cooked by Bush Blair Mafia

According to this linked report, , what prompted Murdoch and Blair to hype a new global "terror" threat was what Murdoch learned from eavesdropping on the phone calls of Prince Charles' staff at the future king's office, home, and limousine. "The eavesdropping revealed that Charles was working with Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, who is to the left of Blair, to conduct the same type of political maneuver that John Major used to oust Margaret Thatcher from office. London's left-wing Mayor, Ken Livingston, was also in on the Charles-Brown plan and it was expected that in return for his support, Livingston would get a senior position in a Brown cabinet -- a development that sent shock waves through the neo-con circles in London, Washington, and Jerusalem, including British Home Secretary John Reid and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. The Charles-Brown plan was briefed by Blair to Bush during the former's recent visit to Washington. Read More about the Insider View

V S Getting in to the Trap Set by Muscat Tycoons.

His only son's NRI Friend from Muscat may spoil the comrade's corruption free image .....

KM understands that the same way some of the former ministers were trapped by some dubious NRIs by using personal influence to buy palaces and hotels at throw away prices, the new wave of investment from the Gulf seems to beusing the personal contacts of the Achuthananthan family - thanks to his one and only son who has many friends (abroad). Why did the Banglore based Muscat group wait for ten years to invest in Kerala - that too when a Marxist government is in power? KM learns that there is some thing more than the normal business rationale behind the sudden attraction to Kerala. Is it not the personal connections of the current corruption free Chief Minister, that is playing the magic bagpipers role? . The Chief Ministers only son seems to be dragging Achuthananthan into the same viscious circle that his counterparts did for other ministers and comrades in the past. At least some people know his classmates and an NRI friend from Muscat. Is it not the same NRI friend who damaged V S As reputation a few years ago by dragging him into a power company scandal? Reassessing the Hariri assassination in the light of recent events?Who Killed Hariri?

Hariri was one of the main architects of the reconstruction of Lebanon, and would not have stood for its re-destruction. He had a lot of powerful friends around the world, and would probably have been able to prevent the current Israeli attacks. Even if the attacks had done damage, he would have been able to lead the re-reconstruction, thwarting Israeli long-term plans. It was thus necessary to remove him as a precondition of the current Israeli attacks..sounds Interesting?

Either way, they were serious violations of international humanitarian law and probable war crimes, Human Rights Watch said today. Full Report/More News

Divisive Forces Act Again to Disrupt Indo-Iran-Pakistan Friendship..Pipeline

As India and Pakistan have signed a historic accord for humanitarian assistance, divisive forces seem to have triggered a series of bomb blasts in Mumbai to create communal division throughout the country. At least 147 persons were killed and 439 injured in seven serial bomb blasts that took place aboard suburban trains on western railway on Tuesday evening. Hardly a few days after the annual day celebrations to mark the London Tube Bomb blasts (July 7) and the Indian Defence Minister Pranab Mukherhjee's cancellation of an official visit to Israel , several innocent Indian passengers were butchered in a man made blast in what appears to be a well planned operation. When the Mumbai Police and Maharastra government have tigtened security following Shiva Sena holiganism that disrupted normal life in Mumbai, an operation of this magnitude could not be carried out without the involvement of a well organised group, probably with the help of an overseas intelligence body. Crackdown on Illegal Migrants Creates Panic among expatriates in Oman

Prison Riots in Oman reportedly Kills Nine

MUSCAT - A large number of of illegal expatriates from India and Pakistanis are reportedly caught in a nationwide search operation conducted by the Omani authorities, as part of its continued campaing to evict illegal migrants. Social workers have reported to their home countries that between two thousand to five thousand illegal migrants are accommodated in a temporary open prison without sufficient water, cooling system or food and a few of them who could not withstanding the Summer heat are reportedly dead. While there is no official confirmation about the crakdown that followed an intelligence report that a number of refugees from an African country have sneaked into the Sultanate, reports suggested that an intense search operation has been going on in different parts of Oman. Indian television channels have reported about the tragedy facing the community abroad, but there is no official confirmation. "From Ruwi in Muscat to Sur, Salalah, Sohar, Saham, thousands of people without proper documents are detained. Already the main prison in Rumais is full and the number of people caught in the surprise operation far exceeded the authorities expectation. They have accommodated them in a temporary shelter near a defence camp," said a source."The temperature has soared to 50 degree celcius and those detained could not be accommodated in the available prisons. They may not have shelter or sufficient water ," added the source. While the number of people who succumbed to heat and hunger is yet to be ascertained, unofficial sources said the figure is less than 10 Asians. "There was reportedly a scramble for food and water that lead to casualty," said sources. Officially there are around 350,000 Indians in Oman, constituting the largest expatriate community in the country. However, thousands of people are believed to have opted for the amnesty scheme. Those caught in the operation includes some senior officials of construction companies. For the last couple of months, Oman has been following an amnesty to allow illegal migrants to leave the country without paying any penalty. An International Human Traffic syndicate uses Oman as a canduit to smuggle people into various Gulf countries from South Asia and Iran. Recently there has been large scale migration of people from the war torn Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. They pose a national security issue for the Omani government. .Letter to His Majesty Qaboos bin Said Al Said, Sultan of Oman

Open Sky Policy - Fly By Night flight operators to Mushroom

Expecting an open sky policy in India, a number of NRI businessmen who want to make a quick buck from the Gulf-Indian sector are hurriedly arranging cheap and used aircraft from the international market, paint and project them as new aircraft, bribe officials in India and get civil aviation permission to start passenger services! There are a couple of new airline promoters who are omnipresent in the audio-visual and print media. A source in a consulting firm reveals that the sustainability and commercial viability of these new airlines would depend on buying used airlines at dead cheap rate. Using used airlines from Russia, USA and Europe would definitely mean compromising the safety standards. Remember the Kish crash in which a number of people perished!!! What awaits passengers in the new airlines targeting the Kerala sector...Companies without even an office are already doing a PR campaign. Another aviation company is in temporarily kept in the cold storage due to recent political changes in the state... Watch out.

Ministry of External Affiars, MG School of International Studies Seminar on IPR Regime

The school of International Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam in association with the Ministry of External Affairs would organise an international seminar on the India and the New Global Regime of Intellectual Property Rights. The Department of Science and Technology, the CSIR, New Delhi would also participate in the seminar, which will be held in the first week of August 2006. "Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) have become one of the crucial issues of concern in the contemporary relations among nations. Central to such a concern has been the level of protection sought/contested on the rights rendered in recognition of the intellectual input or creativity underlying and invention or an artistic expression," says Dr.Raju Thadikkaran, Director, SIS. " The debate over IPR acquired an all-pervasive dimension in the wake of the TRIPs agreement, with the WTO at its center. The new IPR regime - New Generic Technologies (NGT) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Biotechnology (BT) in particular controlled by Transnational Corporations ushered in a new era of hegemony and control, with far reaching implications for developing countries," he added. Journalist: victims of Discrimination ..

Veena Kuruvila, reporter of Emirates Evening Pos, an English evening newspaper from Dubai cannot tolerate racial discrimination in some of the night clubs there... Linked here is her story about the alleged humiliation of four high profile Indian advertisement professionals in a star hotel night club. Read Full Report courtesy Emirates Evening Post This is not the first time, nor the last time that media is writing about the issue. Quoting a survey conducted by an online recruitment company, she says many people face discrimination. . Discontented people use the letters to the editor columns of newspapers to vent out their anger... However, the funny part is that even the same breed of rreporters who write about discrimination are also victims of the same evil.. Two Indian reporters of a bold English tabloid never get their bylines printed anywhere in the paper. Even if these Keralite reporters cover stories and explosive exclusives, which become talk of the town, the tabloid editors who otherwise vow to fight for democracy and justice in the Middle East and expose one and all.. never feel comfortable to attribute the story to the reporter who worked for it. Writers, authors, columnists and even reporters of other nationalities liberally get their bylines, some even with photographs ..but the reporters who fight the summer heat and other problems never get their names attributed to any stories...even if it is an earth shaking one. ..If it is the situation in an English tabloid edited by ghora editor, , the situation in the Gulf bureau of a Malayalam newspaper which claims 100 years history of crusade against untouchability and social inequalities in Kerala is astonishing. Two Malayali journalists of one of the oldest newspapers never get byline for their news stories.. It appears that the Malayalam newspaper management never treat them like "original" journalists.. So is there any reason to blame the English tabloid..for not giving bylines to Indian reporters?

Killed by Accident or Accidentally Killed?

The Indian community in the Gulf region is shocked and baffled by the unexpected and unexplained demise of the Indian Association Sharjah President M.K.Madhavan, who has reportedly died in a "tragic" accident. Families and friends of Madhavan who contacted KM found it difficult to rule the death resulting from just a car accident. Even though the mainstream media have reported the death story as a result of the accidental plunge of the Toyota Turzel to the Sharjah Creek, a cursory visit to the accident spot would raise many question marks about the official theories being floated around by unknown sources. Even though family members and some close friends of Madhavan have raised doubts about the accident theory, nobody has gone on record, fearing the unknown. "He was in the club till 9 PM and left the office, after receiving a phone call, suspected to be from the same people who were trying to contact him from the afternoon. He rushed out of the office, without even closing his drawer, reportedly telling his subordinate that he would be back soon. His Honda car too was left in the IAS car parking, leaving serious doubts about the reasons for his sudden departure from the IAS. Only a proper investigation would find out whether there was any other development. Full Report

Female labourers pressed to get minimum wage

AMMAN, 12 June- Female workers are discriminated against and still often paid below the minimum legal salary a month after the government raised the minimum wage by the equivalent of US $22, according to workers and union leaders. In May, the government raised the minimum wage per month from the equivalent of US $120 to US $142 in an effort to offset increases in living costs that came following recent fuel price hikes. However, workers and labour leaders complain that women working jobs in several sectors have been paid wages much less than their original salaries before the pay rise. Some women reportedly earn the equivalent of only US $60 a month for working 10- to 12-hour days.

Media War on Naxallites in Dubai

A news report by Sunitha Menon, reporter of Gulf News by quoting an Andhra Public Relations Minister has created a sensation and heated debate among newspaper readers and the Indian community members in the Gulf. For the last three days, two leading English Newspapers, the Gulf News and Khaleej Times, are engaged in a virtual war of words about Naxalites from Andhra Pradesh allegedly infecting the cheap construction labour scene in the Gulf region. The newspaper war has turned out to be a duel between two Indian journalists. On one side of the war of words is Riyas Babu, reporter Khaleej Times who is positioned against another Malayali reporter from rival Gulf News.. .There is no end to debates about growing labour unrest in the region. Anyone who can see the working and living condition in some companies need not go as far as Andhra to find reasons for the labour strikes... It is definitely rampant exploitation and unfair treatment of the workers that create labour unrest. Someone with vested interest may misuse the opportunity for their benefit. Ministers may change their quotes for their own reasons, but journalists need to be cautious about reporting and refuting stories... The Andhra Minister, a public figure, may have made an awkward comment. He is reportedly in deep trouble for making such a short sighted comment about his own people.. These poor people go abroad to work and earn a living..not to make revolution. All reporters know that it is unfair to treat all Andhraites as naxallites who are covertly working to overthrow any governments ..Not all Keralites are Marxists who wish to engage in any class struggle abroad. Not all Pakistanis or Afghanistis or Iranis here are "Islamic terrorists" as branded by some countries. Thousands of Russians and East Europeans, the former communist bloc countries work and do business here..... How many of them are Communists? Of course the recent developments in Nepal and India are not welcome developments for some forces...Who is interested in raising the bogey of Naxalism .here.. Kochi International Airport Immigration Police Rude!!!

A casual glance through the complaints book kept at the Cochi International Airport surprised some journalists who were brainwashed by the airport management about the international quality standards maintained by the first and only international airport in Kerala!!! An interesting comment from a Non Resident Keralite is that when he wanted to write a complaint in the complaint book, there was no pen! "Keep a pen to write down the complaints. A book alone is not enough!" The toilets are dirty and sometimes there is no toilet papers available!! Most complaints are about the long time taken at the immigration and customs counters where aggrieved passengers have liberal comments about the rude and aggressive behaviour of the police officials, lack of training and IT knowledge and other drawbacks. The complaints are not only from Mallu passengers, but Americans and other western tourists who come to Kerala for tourism! These are definitely black marks that discredit the international status of the airport. Many passengers have made ugly remarks about the impolite approach of the immigration officials and their rude manner to throw away passengers passport and other documents. The snacks served in the international food court are old and cool!!! Prayer rooms are not good...It is Malayalis nature to grumble about anything. But some of the complaints in the Cochi International Airport Terminal complaint book are quite genuine!!! Will the authorities ever have a look at these complaints?

LDF Returns to Power

Proving that the self defeating pre election drama staged by some left and right wing politicians to develop unholy election alliance and agendas are not approved by the majority of politically conscious voters, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) is returning to power in the state with a thumping majority. The election reiterates the fact that the historic stand of V.S. Achuthananthan, the most popular communist leader who fought against all odds even to get an election seat, that an election alliance with the notorious and selfish politicians like K.Karunakaran and Family was unwarranted. The election results also signifies the fact that the persistent propaganda by the state Chief Minister and company that V.S. was the main enemy of the state development. The election results prove that the strong opposition to the Kovalam palace robbery by the Galfar Group/Leela Group and Smart City projects is approved by the majority of voters. It is common knowledge that the election fortunes in a coalition set up keeps swinging, but the failure of many prominent ministers and leaders is a clear indication that people are fed up with the anti-people approach of the outgoing government. It is an election result that shows that the bottom layer of Kerala society is not influenced by the manipulation of media by the elite upper layer of politicians and analysts. Kochi Airport Duty Free Shop: Shame on India?

The Pride of India is how the Cochi International Airport Ltd CIAL terms its Duty Free Shop in the arrival terminal. Truly it is the proud of Non Resident Indians. Every Indian should be proud of the Koch Duty Free Shop: . However, any self respecting Indian passenger who passes through the Duty Free Shop would feel ashamed because their own national currency is not accepted there!!! While Duty Free Shops in any country would accept their national currency, the Cochi Duty Free Shop has the dubious distinction of dishonouring the Indian National Currency. While prices of all items are prominently displayed in dollar, no one can buy an item paying the Indian currency. Dubai International Airport would sell any item for the UAE national currency..Sri Lankan Duty Free shop would sell anything for their national currency...In Kochi Duty Free Shop, the national currency is not in currency!!! "I felt ashamed to be an Indian when the Duty Free Shop refused to accept the national currency. Many Indian passengers have same complaints," says one proud NRK who had the bitter experience in his own home country. "I would not mind if it happened in an American Airport...It happened in Kochi, the commercial capital of Kerala." The Airport is definitely the result of investment made by non resident Indians. "We are not supposed to sell it to local customers. The customs rule is such that these products should be sold to international customers in an international currency," argues the counter staff. "When you are in the Duty Free Shop, you are supposed to be an international passenger who deals in dollars," he argues. "So no sales in Indian currency." Ironically enough, if you cross the Duty Free shop and come to a coffee shop, the tea vendor says: "Five Rupees for Nescafee...." It is not an international area? Cochin Duty free provides truly world-class duty free shopping experience. Its interior furnished according to world-class standards is the biggest duty free outlet in India. International Brands, be it in wine, Liquor, perfumes, confectionery, tobacco or even supermarket items, CIAL has all the best brands in the world. Homecoming Malayalis can also celebrate ONAM colourfully and welcome Maveli with Mars, Tiffany, Cadbury, Galaxy, Nestle. Perfumes are in galore. And even Atlas Jewelry which runs a gold shop does not accept the Indian currency. The number of complaints in the complaints book of the International Airport reveals that Airport authorities should respect the national currency!

Asianet Mock Election Mocks At Popular Sentiment

How the popular sentiment and election mood in the state is totally different from the attitude of the affluent Non Resident Indian community and some media organisations that always project such "suit community" was evident when Asianet Radio, a Dubai based radio station predicted in a so called parallel election that the UDF would win majority of seats - nearly 90 seats against less than 40 for the Left Democratic Front. What signifies this SMS Mock poll outcome is the negative attitude of the rich and affluent NRI community, especially the business community, towards a popular coalition. Through the mock polls, the Gulf based radio station, from a leading media organisation that always stood solidly behind the corrupt regime of Oommen Chandy and a few business tycoons to market their total sell out of the state assets at throw away prices, made a fortune through the SMS triggered parallel vote as each of the 26,000 NRI voters who participated in the mock elections doled out money for the poll participation! The radio stations have in fact made a mockery of the public sentiment by indulging in what they knew is a biased exercise involving prominent NRI community. It is an open secret that this suit community always found V S Achuthananthan as an enemy of development! because he opposed handing over of Kovalam Palace at throw away prices to Galfar group! Even though there are many LDF supporters in the Gulf, these people from the lower level of the society. Asianet Radio and TV were trying their level best to market the secret agenda of Ommen Chandy and coteries who termed VS Achuthananthan and his supporters as the real opponents of development in the state.

Kerala Goes to Polls ...as LDF poised to win

The state politically conscious electorate of the state are going to vote for selecting the next batch of legislators who will control their destiny for next five years. If no miracles happen at the last minute, as predicted by preelection surveys, the ruling coalition--United Democratic Front headed by the outgoing Chief Minister Ommen Chandy would be voted out of power and a Left Democratic Front Government of Left Democratic Front (LDF) would assume power. Within the LDF, the power struggle between the most popular Achuthananthan group and the power hungry Pinarayi Vijayan group is still passive, but the under current forces behind this fight are very much active in state politics. Even though it will be a smooth sailing for the LDF in the polls, the after election scenario in the state would be turbulent.Another survey forecasts Left victory

Illegal Workers Lured to Work in Iraqi War Zones

Visit Visa Racket through Online Route Rampant

The visa racket run by a wide network of dubious recruiting agents and subagents in India and the Gulf have reached a new dimension. In order to circumvent the Asian government restrictions on sending their nationals to work in the high risk Iraqi war zones, a number of Asian workers are lured to work in the Gulf countries, with fake visas and visit visas, some of which are created without having relevant records in the emigration computer systems of the visa issuing countries. Some of the visa agents with strong connections open trading companies overnight, take maximum number of visas and visit visas and the company is closed immediately. These visas are sold in India and other Asian countries... Some of the victims who become illegal workers are easily transported to work in Iraq. A leading agent will get a good premium to send such an illegal worker to Iraq...through various Gulf countries. Those who refuse to oblige are manhandled and are informally imprisoned...Recently, at least ten Keralites who came to Sharjah Airport with fake visas were stranded and the timely intervention of some good Samaritans helped them to be out of the Iraq war zone... Watch out ..

Malayalis to be Shot Dead in Sharjah for Rape

Two Keralites are awaiting death in the Sharjah Central Jail after they were sentenced to be shot dead by a court in Al Daid for raping an 18 years old Sri Lankan girl, who was recruited by Al Daid Labour Supply . The culprits who came to the UAE only a year before were working in Al Daid based labour supply company. The Islamic court gave a strong verdict because the Keralite Muslim committed rape in the Holy month of Ramadan. The newly recruited housemaid was trapped and raped in a systematic manner. M, from Neeleswaram, Kasargodu and SD from Banglore, allegedly trapped the Sri Lankan housemaid the same day she was picked up from the airport. It is learned that the labour supply companies trap and sexually abuse newly recruited young girls from abroad - the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Sri Lanka. Strangely enough the lady who made the rape complaint was reportedly send back after taking a no complaint statement, which is clearly under pressure. The culprit hails from a poor family in Kasargodu and his wife is trying to save his life. This is a continuation of the old story - kidnapping and trapping young girls, especially from Asian countries, by the recruitment agents. For about a decade, death sentance has been stopped in the UAE and it is expected that the appeal court may reduce the severe punishment - death penalty. This sentance may be an eye opener for many criminals who take the innocent girls for a ride.-- Watch out.

While Malayalis, Punjabis, Bengladeshis and Pakistanis worked for the dubious firm, most ofthe victims are South Indian traders. More

Indian Schools Demand for Hike Rejected!!!

The greed of Indian Schools run by a Malayali management is controlled by the UAE Ministry of Education, which reportedly dismissed the schools plan to jack up fees by 20 to 40 per cent. Continuing the Indian School story of too much profit and some education, a school business started by two ordinary teachers from Kerala has grown into a turely international business with a chain of sixty schools and posh schools. If at all running schools in Dubai was not a profitable business, how can the school business grow to such an international magnitude? Of course a lot of hardwork is there, but squeezing parents beyond a limit is self defeating. The schools which charge fancy fees from students pays only peanuts to its ..non teaching staff. Many parents of Indian schools are planning to send back their families because of skyrocketing fees, rent andother expense. Schools too bear the escalating cost...but considering education as pure business is not a healthy trend. That too for a school business started by two school teachers, who had the unique privilege of teaching English to the son of a Dubai Sheikhs... Fee hikes rejected - Discuss School Fees Issue

Gulf News, Khaleej Times Celebrate Journalists Victory in Court Cases!! 7-Days Celebrated Silently!!

Almost all the newspapers in Dubai celebrate the victory of their journalists in defamationa and libel cases. While Khaleej Times quote often carries front page reports revealing the favourable court verdicts, Gulf News is not far behind. It too celebrated the victory of Baasma Al Jandaly and others in various court cases. However, 7-Days, the new aggressive tabloid in Dubai remained tight lipped about the court verdict in its favour. While Khaleej Times carried a four column story about the court verdict quoting 7-Days, Gulf Today and Gulf Madhyamam too reported the same. Surprisingly 7-Days too remained tight lipped about its own victory in the court case !!! As usual all Malayalam newspapers from Dubai except Gulf Madhyamam pretended as if nothing happened. All the Malayali newspaper editors and journalists are members of the Indian Media Forum too, the one and only association that stands to protect the Indian journalists here. For them there is no space shortage to announce the recent awards and business successes of the other party in the case.

Kerala Social Center Electiion Results!!!

Many eyebrows are raised when the official panel of the Kerala Social Centre is at the receiving end when the much awaited election result was declared. While the dispute over the legitimacy of some members who hurriedly renewed their membership was settled amicably in favour of the official panel, the election result came as a blow to them. While the real players behind the power struggle remains invisible, the mute question is : who is the real winner in this power game that attracted headlines for a few months? The infighting members of the social club are apparently divided into two groups ...The entire controversy has put the Indian community..(or communists) in a bad light. Manipulation, vastha and influence are things that spoil the true democratic tradition. On many issues, Keralites agree to disagree..various tricks used by Pinarayi group to marginalise VS Achuthananthan did not succeed..We can assume that there is no such thing here...be fair and transparent.. that is the message from the election result.!!! even if it could be a rigged election, respect it for the sake of smooth functioning of the association.

Rouge Leaders Smuggle Sex Scandalous Sons to Gulf

A recent press conference confirmed what KM reported earlier ie. some of the corrupt CPM leaders have smuggled their equally corrupt and scandalous sons to the Gulf.. After creating a mess for them, the dearest offsprings of the two prominent VIP comrades have managed to smuggle out their serial film addicted sex maniacs to work from the Gulf - a den for all evil doers. These leaders have been named in an official mouthpiece of a religious party.. Apparently, the new revelation about the VIPs involved in the kiliroor sex scandal is just a reiteration of what was an open secret in the Gulf cities. Latha Nair, Shari S Nair... Young Comrades...Jewellers...the story continues. Now the same gang that trapped young girls into sex slavery are getting ready to trap new entrants.. An advertising campaign...to select new faces (and other parts of the body) will soon be launched. Ostensibly to act in new serials and movies... How many of these girls would end up like the young girl from Kottayam Shari S Nair, the Ms Kottayam. Star Hunt sponsored by the very same idiots will now kic start from Kerala.... Only the venue changes..actors are all same... Some junior comrades are also part of this star hunt.. More - Let cops probe sex scams: Opposition

Kodiyeri, Baby Named as Probable VIPs by Adv PA Pouran

A front page story in Middle East Chandrika (April 2006) says that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan as a VIP who visited Shari S.Nair, the girl who was trapped in the Kiliroor Sex scandal. Quoting from a press conference, Advocate P.A.Pouran asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to include the sons of Kodiyeri, M.A.Baby, an unnamed jewellery owner and a houseboat owner in the CBI investigation about the Kiliroor sex scandal. He also vowed to campaign against the accused leaders and claimed that his revelation is based on the statement of Shari's parents.... Even though V S Achuthananthan was indirectly making these allegations, this is the first time that the names of CPM leaders is mentioned in a press conference...is it just part of inner party politics or a real fight against sex scandals..only time will prove. That is why CPM leader was furious to hear about VIPs in press conferences...

Indian School Seeb to have a Natural Death?

The very birth of an Indian School in Seeb was a direct challenge to the private schools which flourished with the official patronage of the Indian Embassy in Muscat - till the rebellious ambassador K M Meena decided to challenge that monopoly. Parents who could not afford to send their children to the only private school in the immediate visinity were feeling relieved when the school was started as a truly community institution, charging nominal fees. From the very beginning the school faced strong opposition from the private school promoter(s) who did not want the school to succeed. The ambassador, read the patron who was instrumental in starting the school was prematurely transferred from Muscat... all others who supported to the school cause were suppressed and ..now when it is just two years old, the school management and the patron sitting in Muscat are silently approving the conspiracy to kill the baby. Moustache Case: Journalist Wins

An Assistant Editor of 7-Days English daily from Dubai and journalist V M Sathish have been acquitted of the libel charges levelled by the Joy Alukkas Group. Following a sensational report in the 7 Days on August 23, 2005 by VM Sathish about the jewellery group asking its employees to shave off moustache, the jewellery group filed a libel case against the journalists . Initially the Dubai Court of First Instance punished the two journalists with Dhs 3000 each because the employees who spoke to the newspaper were not willing to go on record, fearing job loss. However, theverdict was challenged in the appeal court. The controversial story was about hundreds of jewellery shop employees who were reluctant to shave off their moustache, a symbol of manhood for an average Keralite. . Even after the international media watchdog Reporters Sans Frontiers urged the group to desist from campaigning against journalists for a silly story, the group was going aggressively targetting the two journalists for writing the report. The case was an acid test case of media freedom in Dubai. The case is in the appeal stage...

Joy Alukkas Amnesty Flight

The Joy Alukkas group will be the next NRI group to charter a budget airline for the sake of poor amnesty seekers. The Joy Alukkas Amnesty Flight , to be operated by Jazeera Air ways, the budget airline from Kuwait, is scheduled to leave Dubai Airport at 9 PM on September 25th with 165 deserving amnesty passengers to Kochin. Kairali TV started the trend to help poor amnesty seekers and managed to charter the first flight that carried 165 passengers free of cost to Kochi, Kerala. It was followed by a chartered flight by Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), which carried another group of poor and sick Keralites who sought to leave the UAE through the amnesty scheme. It is good to see that such humanitarian gestures are confined to a few groups and associations.

Passive Government ....Active politicians

The Government of India and ministers handling the overseas portfolio, often talks about the welfare of overseas Indian community. We havent heard of a single free flight or subsidised flight for these poor Non Resident, rather non requited Indians...The central government may be more busy with bigger issues like conducting joint military exercises in the Bay of Bengal spending the poor tax payers money and lobbying to help hawkish American President George Bush to go ahead with his aggressive postures towards fellow non aligned countries like Iran and go ahead with the Indo American nuclear deal .Congress leaders were in the Gulf to raise money for a party channel and often use such occasion for V S Achuthananthan bashing... Poor Achumaman who is betrayed by his own comrades cannot do anything.. the state government has nothing to do with the civil aviation ministry...he could just send a few officials to beg for free tickets from the rich NRIS to amnesty seekers. The leader(s) of a political party that ruled the center for four decades still prefer to blame the state chief minister and NORKA for the high airfare and unfair treatment of the Non Resident Indian community.....

Miracle or Success of Medical Science..?

In cases of electrocution, CPR for an hour or longer can allow stunned nerves to recover, allowing an apparently-dead person to survive

A new Malayalam newspaper from Dubai reported the"story" of a seven month old boy, who was electrocuted during a shower and declared dead by five "doctors" of a local hospital. According to the report, a sixth doctor did a miracle and gave a re birth to the boy.The same story was reproduced on the front page with additional inputs by an evening Malayalam Daily. An afternoon English daily too reproduced same stuff. While it is doubtful whether anybody in the medical world would call it a news story at all,. the same story was smartly translated and published on the front page of a leading English tabloid, which claims to be pushing the boundaries of journalism in the Middle East. Sometimes slight heart or human body part movements are too small to be visible on the stethoscope, ECG or other medical devices . In such cases the attending doctor is expected to be vigilant and do all the required revival techniques to save the patients life. Only after all these efforts have failed that a doctor has the right to declare him or her dead. The death needs to be confirmed with a death certificate. It is doubtful whether all the five doctors who hurriedly declared the boy dead made such an announcement after making all efforts to revive him. Read More

Young and old tell their tales of woe

BEIRUT, 22 July (IRIN) - At least 500,000 people have been displaced in Lebanon since July 12, when Israel began its military campaign there in response to the capture of two its soldiers by Hizbullah. With Israeli attacks escalating and the threat of a 'limited' ground offensive looming, the number of displaced is expected to rise dramatically. In the course of reporting the humanitarian crisis that Lebanon is experiencing, IRIN spoke to a number of ordinary Lebanese adults and children about the harsh conditions they now face. Full Report

With the Only superpower left in the post cold war world starting to subjugate poor countries with rich resources one by one by waging high tech wars and the world media controlled by the same forces wipping up war sentiment throughout the world, the ongoing war in Lebanon seems to be a continuation of the western plot to redesign the Middle East map to the colonial era.

After deposing the legitimate government of Saddam Hussein in Iraq showing a bogey of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction, Iraq is already on the verge of a civil war. Continuing the old colonial policy of divide and rule, Iraqis are sharply divided into Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and what ever factions, the next target is Lebanon, which is also sharply divided into Christians, Muslims -thanks to the French colonial legacy. The media too seem to be part of the global conspiracy to attack defenceless nations. An all out campaign is on to drag Syria and Iran to the current crisis which all started in the name of two Israeli soldiers allegedly kidnapped by Hezabolla, a militant Islamic group, which has been fighting the mighty Jewish state.

The war in Iraq was justified in the name of so called Weapons of Mass Destruction and nuclear weapons programme of Saddam Hussein, which are yet to be proved to the international community. Last month alone, six thousand innocent civilians perished in sectarian violence in Iraq....a country which is far away from democracy. Recolonisation of the World Started from Middle East

His blunder, according to Daniel's report is that the diplomat who represents the Indian president in the host country has misused the official emblem by including his family members names in the Republic Day party invitation. The issue was brought to the notice of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)... Well done Daniel...keep it up.

Padmaja Relocating to London to Set Up Hotel Chain! Rports Middle East Chandrika

As the fortunes of Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) - DIC(K) seems to be dwindling in the state politics, Padmaja Venugopal, the one and only daughter of prominent Congress politician who was groomed by the master brain of Kerala politics as heir apparent, is trying her luck in the hotel business in London, said a front page story in Middle East Chandrika, the leading newspaper published from Dubai. .The sharp and strongly worded report raised many eye brows as it made new revealations about the future business plans of the Karunakaran family . After heading the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) that manages many prime properties in the most popular tourist destinations in the state, Padamaja is venturing into a hotel business, the report added. Earlier Amruta TV aired a similar rreport with some details of the business plan in association with a Gulf based business tycoon. Padmaja was sudden to react to the story. After all politics is the biggest business in India where even elected members and ministers bargain for every questions raised in the parliament... Kerala too is not different as is evident now in the SNC - Lavlin case. The Chief Ministerial dreams of Prominent Communist leader Pinarayi Vijayan is now becoming nightmares.. Padmaja has not done anything of that sort and was happily living with her grandchild and daughter . The lady is back in the media, but for a different reason. She can still become a great politician like her father (read more here). As politics is in her blood...as is in the blood of every Keralite. Middle East Chandrika which just celebrated its first anniversary too celebrated the Karunakaran Story. Cool as long as the leader is out of the United Democratic Front (UDF) folder-Watch out.
