Madhu Koda, Raja Corruption
Cases: Money Laundering Network in Gulf
As two Major Corruption Cases Rocks
India, $11 billion telecom spectrum fraud involving the Telecom
Minister D Raja from the DMK, a Congress ally in both the center
at the Tamil Nadu state, the money laundering investigation
by the Indian Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department
has traced the the illegitimate wealth amassed by the Indian
politicians in foreign countries. Documents seized from the associates
of Madhu Koda, former Jharkand Chief Minister, showed $10 million.
The extent of money laundering is under probe and there are preliminary
evidence indicating that this could be the biggest case under
anti money laundering act. Some documents seized from Mumbai
based Balaji Bullion owned by Kodas aides Binod Kumar Sinha,
Sanjay Chaudhary and Manoj Punamia revealed alleged hawala transactions
amounting to Rs 990 crore. Two firms in the Gulf region are named
in the money laundering network.
Documents seized from Arvind Vyas, described
as a close associate of Binod Kumar Sinha, indicate transfers
of $10 million to Dubai. More than 100 bank accounts are under
scrutiny. Koda is said to have confirmed his visits to Dubai,
Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and Liberia...The former Jharkand
Chief Minister, who was just a mine worker, purchased a mine
in Liberia from the kick backs that he earned from privatising
the state owned mines in Jharkand, one of the most poor states
in India. The Mine scandal of Jharkand politicians came to light
following the telecom scandal..only when politicians want to
settle score in public will the people come to know about such
scandals....The scame scandal is going on in the aviation sector
where the ministers are selling out the national carriers to
foreign airlines....Almost all the Indian ministers and politicians
have their near and dear ones working or doing business abroad..and
we can see a lot of them always around doing benami deals. The
Kerala Media has been focusing on just one such boy, leaving
all others.....Watch Out

The Origins of World War
III
Among the many notable states where
there is a crossover between terrorism and oil and gas reserves
of vital importance to the United States and the West, are Saudi
Arabia, Libya, Bahrain, the Gulf Emirates, Iran, Iraq, Egypt,
Sudan and Algeria, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Chechnya,
Georgia and eastern Turkey. Importantly, this region accounts
for more than 65 percent of the world's oil and natural gas production.
Further, It is inevitable that the war against terrorism
will be seen by many as a war on behalf of America's Chevron,
ExxonMobil and Arco; France's TotalFinaElf; British Petroleum;
Royal Dutch Shell and other multinational giants, which have
hundreds of billions of dollars of investment in the region.
Mamootty the Great Actor! Reality Show
Stampade!
Reality behind the Reality Stage(d) Show
The Media in the
Gulf is going gaga about a stampede outside a reality show featuring
the Malayalam superstar, Mammootty, for a Malayali TV Channel,
which is part of the Murdoch media empire now. About three weeks
after it become a pay channel, the reality show featuring the
Malayalam superstar and the current Chairman of the rival channel,,
Mammootty grabbed headlines, not only in the Gulf Malayalam media
but even of a prominent English newspaper like the National.
The Reality show in the name of its rival TV channel Chairman,
Mammottty, went on air about three months ago and the actor was
stunned by the proposal from a rival channel. As Mamootty, like
his colleague, Mohanlal is an ace actor and businessman, he agreed
for the deal which includes a key role for the reality show winner
in the next film planned by the Mamootty film production company,
Playhouse. Nobody knows how much money Mamootty got from the
global media empire to agree for the show.According to the channel
insiders, the entire exercise was like a reality show hoax planned
as part of a grand media strategy of the new Murdochian channel. Full

Graft Case or tip of Iceberg for Major Arms Deal Scandal?
SNC Lavlin Graft Case..
a Tip of the Ice Berg?
Going
by global corruption standards, the SNC Lavlin case is just a
small graft case, when comrade Vijayan was the Electricity Minister
(1998), three years before the US invasion of Afghanistan. The
frenzy media coverage about SNC Lavlin in the Kerala centers
around three minor power projects in remote areas of Kerala,
which may be peanut for a company with multibillion dollar turnovers.
Reports on Tuesday suggested that the CBI is planning to question
businessman in Dubai, as part of its SNC Lavlin investigation.
It appears that the SNC Lavlin case is more than what meets the
eye The alleged involvement of globalised Malayalis who have
become overnight millionaires in the case indicates the involvement
of arms merchants and organ traders in deciding the ouster of
V S Achuthananthan from the Politburo. SNC Lavlin is not only
an energy company, but a major arms supplier and defence contractor
that makes huge profits from war, occupation and destabilisation
of governments. The rags to riches stories of SNC Lavlin middle
men are doubtful and the party leaders wining and dining with
such mediocre middlemen needs further scrutiny. Is the international
arms lobby tightening its grip on the official party apparatus...SNC
Lavlin is one of the major suppliers of 500 million bullets per
year to the US forces in Iraq and a major beneficiary of war
reconstruction projects ..Pinarayi was found in the company of
dubious businessmen during his foreign trips. and the power brokers

- Pay or Perish: Asianet will become pay
channel from October 1, 2009
-
Asianet,
the leading entertainment channel from Kerala, will become the
first pay channel in the state with effect from October 1, 2009,
KM learns from reliable sources. Asianet, the first Malayalam
TV channel started by a well known journalist Shashi Kumar with
the support of budding Malayali entrepreneurs, is now under the
total control of the international media mogul, Rupert
Murdoch, (right) through STAR India. The gradual migration
to an encrypted paid channel will boost the revenue flow to the
channel. The migration from a free channel to a paid channel
is part of the overall integration of Asianet channels into the
STAR India culture. Asianet, which started as a pro communist
channel is now part of Keith Rupert Murdoch's $4 billion media
empire, which includes among other news organisations, the New
Corp, several newspapers, TV channels, film ventures, new media.
-
- As on December 31, 2008, there are 129 pay channels and 180
free to air channels in India . The Star TV channels like Star
Movies, Star News, EPN-Star etc are paid channels and from next
October, Asianet viewers will have to pay a monthly fees for
watching their favourite programmes on Asianet and Asianet Plus.
Currently, eighty per cent of the viewers in Kerala are subscribed
to the channel through Asianet cable network and pay a monthly
subscription of Rs 150 per month. In the state, the channel may
slightly increase this monthly payment, the rates are yet to
be finalized.Once it become a paid channel, viewers will be able
to access the channels only through a decoder sold by the channel.
Other Malayalam channels --Kairali, India Vision, Malayala Manorama,
Jeevan TV, Jai Hind and Amrutha --all hit by the financial crisis
and the disappearnce of real estate and gold advertisements --are
keenly watching the Murdoch impact to follow suit.
-
- The sale of decoder will be another major revenue source
for the channel. In the Middle East, the group will create a
separate beam and may work as a separate channel. Asianet News
channel may be kept out of the pay channel and the outgoing Asianet
chairman Raji Menon, who toiled day and night to develop the
channel into the most popular Malayalam TV channel will be satisfied
with an insignicient stake in Asianet News channel. This concession
is because Rupert Murdoch, a foreign investor, cannot control
an Indian news channel. Star India representatives were in Dubai
as part of the restructuring exercise and to discuss with Arabsat,
the leading satellite firm, about positioning some of the Asianet
channels for the Middle East viewers. Using a separate beam the
channel will be able to generate more Gulf specific programmes
and advertisements. Watch out.

Mohanlal becoming an Indian Rambo
Thousands of patriotic soldiers are working 24 hours to protect
India's national security and boarders. KM Salutes these brave
soldiers. However, the Indian defence establishment is one of
the most corrupt establishments in the world, as is clear from
various corruption reports and the regular reports from the Comptroller
and Auditor General. A popular actor like Mohanlal can boost
the soldiers morale and create a clean image about the army.
His endorsing the army will create a new spirit of militarism
in Indian society. Is it really good for the country? Lal's joining
the corrupt league of Indian Military Industrial Complex is also
sending a wrong message across the world about war being waged
in different countries. Mohanlals current role as the Ambassador
of the territorial army will negate the heroic role of Govardhan
Menon, a patriotic doctor that he played in Kalapani and

Conspiracy fever: As rumours swell that
the British government staged 7/7, victims' relatives call for
a proper inquiry: Daily
Mail Report
A very detailed report in Daily Mail says there is widespread
rumour that the July 7, 2005 train bomb blast in the UK was stage
managed by the British intelligence agencies to swing public
opinion in favour of war on terror and the invasion of Iraq.
The report by Sue Reid said that even many senior police officials
including former Scotland Yard deputy assistant commissioner
Brian Paddick, former anti-terror chief of London police Andy
Hayman (who oversaw the police response to 7/7) and David Davis,
until recently Tory Shadow Home Secretary - now support the call
for an independent investigation into the bombings. The story
says the four British Muslims killed in alleged suicide bombing
were tricked by the intelligence agencies and police to believe
that they were participating in a mock anti terror exercise.
The report is an impact of Ripple Effect, a video which is gaining
popularity on the Internet that discusses the conspiracy theory
behind the 7/7 Bombings. The Documentary, recently aired by the
BBC discusses among other things the reason for not showing any
video footage from the railway CCTV network to support the government
claims. As the mystery surrounding September 11, and Indias own
September 11, are yet to be cleared, the reqport quoting families
of the dead victims and an increasing number of 7/7 survivors
is a must read story. There are many inconsistencies and basic
mistakes in the official accounts that need explanation. There
is strong demand for a full public inquiry to answer key questions
about what the Intelligence Services and the police did and did
not know before the bombings. This week, a television documentary
on BBC2 called Conspiracy Files 7/7 revealed the existence of
a conspiracy theorist's 56-minute video called Ripple Effect.
"It accuses Tony Blair, the Government, the police, and
the British and Israeli Secret Services of murdering the innocent
people who died that day to stir up anti-Islamic fervour and
create public support for the 'war on terror'.", Read

Economic Survey: 2008-09 -Several steps taken
to enhance domestic rupee liquidity
The
Economic Survey 2008-09 presented to Parliament today by the
Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee says, the speed at which
the Indian economy returns to the high growth path in the short
term depends on the revival of the economy, particularly the
US economy and the Governments capacity to push some critical
policy reforms in the coming months. It says, if the US economy
bottoms out by September 2009 there would be good possibility
for the Indian economy repeating its 2008-09 performance i.e.
around 7.0 +/- 0.75 per cent in the fiscal 2009-10 (assuming
a normal monsoon). However, in the event of a more prolonged
external economic downturn, the revival of the global economy/US
economy being delayed until 2010, the growth may moderate to
the lower end of the range. It says the recovery is likely to
be assisted by the likely developments in the external sectors.

Recession Hit Foreign Universities
Flock to India
Hardly a month after assuming power in New Delhi, the new
UPA government is moving very fast to allow foreign direct investment
in elementary and higher education. A country which has one third
of the all illiterates in the world offers a lucrative market
for foreign universities which are hit hard by the ongoing economic
crisis. The opening of Indian educational sector for foreigners
opens a big untapped multibillion dollar business for the recession
hit American Universities and their potential partners. About
40 per cent of India's 1.1 billion people are under the age of
18, and there is demand to create 1500 new colleges and universities
over the next couple of years. In anticipation of the business
potential, a leading Minister in the new government has already
established his own educational outlets in Kerala.

Iran Had a Democracy Before We Took It
Away
by Chris Hedges
Iranians do not need or want us to teach them
about liberty and representative government. They have long embodied
this struggle. It is we who need to be taught. It was Washington
that orchestrated the 1953 coup to topple Irans democratically
elected government, the first in the Middle East, and install
the compliant shah in power. It was Washington that forced Prime
Minister Mohammed Mossadegh, a man who cared as much for his
country as he did for the rule of law and democracy, to spend
the rest of his life under house arrest. We gave to the Iranian
people the corrupt regime of the shah and his savage secret police
and the primitive clerics that rose out of the swamp of the dictators
Iran. Iranians know they once had a democracy until we took it

Literary Quotation Team
Targets VS
A
group of CPM supporters are protesting against the participation
of Sukumar Azhikode, M Mukundan and KEN Kunjumohammed in a literary
programme organized as part of the Centenary celebrations of
Vaikom Muhammed Bashir, a well known Malayali writer. After discrediting
the prominent scholar and author late M N Vijayan, the Pinaray
group has been promoting the anarchist writer like Mukundan to
criticize the chief minister. While they have been good writers
and command respect from the public, these self proclaimed literary
ambassadors have degenerated into political pimps barking for
corrupt leaders. M Mukundan, a popular writer who worked at the
cultural exchange desk of the French embassy in New Delhi has
been spreading the spirit of anarchism, drug addiction and alcoholism
among the disgruntled Malayali youth. When the ideological dispute
between the VS and Pinaray faction was getting intense, Mukundan
dared to term him as an "Outdated Saint." (Kalaharanapetta
Punyavalan) and Mr Pinaray as the "Right leader of our times."

Democrafy: BBC Caught In Mass Public Deception With Iran Propaganda
The BBC has again been caught engaging in mass public deception
by using photographs of pro-Ahmadinejad rallies in Iran and claiming
they represent anti-government protests in favor of Hossein Mousavi.
A report by Paul Watson James from Prisonplanet.com said "An
image used by the L.A. Times on the front page of its website

of supporters at a public event. In a story covering the election
protests yesterday, the BBC News website used a closer shot of

Cyber War against Iran
Remember the fale media hype and mass hysteria generated by
the international media controlled by the Military industrial
complex about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq to justify
an unjust invasion of a soverign nation. The same media hype
and hysteria is created about the Iranian presidential election
results now. This time, the covert media campaign is unleashed
through a number of anonymous Internet sites and discussion forums,
claimed to be streaming directly by Iranian citizens from Iran.
In addition to the mainstream media, the social networking sites
and cyber discussion forums are being manipulated to give an
impression of a total uprising in Iran against the current government..
As Mossad and the CIA failed to prevent the reelection of Ahmednijad,
they are engaged in another public relation war..

is a fact that the election results announced on May 16 surprised

Dream Jobs Dwindle for Australian Executives
in Property Sector
The recent arrest of several Australian executives for corruption
and corporate espionage in the UAE has shattered the dreams of
several highly paid Australian executives in the Gulf. The number
of Australians monitored and arrested for fraud in the property
market and corporate espionage is increasing. The highly paid
Australian executives of the biggest construction companies are
in jail for fraud. "The most high-profile arrests are those
of two former employees of Dubai-based Nakheel, Australians Matt
Joyce and Marcus Lee, detained without charges since January.
They are alleged to be involved in bribery over the sale of the
Waterfront site, now controlled by the Queensland-based Sunland.
While these cases are pending, a small number in senior management
is concerned about phone tapping and monitoring of their emails,"
the Australian Reported quoted unnamed sources. There are now
about 20,000 Australians working in Dubai, lured by wonderful
job descriptions and huge salary packages, read
