Board of Directors suspends
seven member Management committee of Indian School Molada

Molada; The fight for controlling the Indian community schools
in Oman has reached a new stage as the Board of Directors summarily
suspended the existing Management Committee of Indian School
Molada, which has been in the ire of controversy for several
months. Following a meeting between the seven members Management
Committee with the representatives of the board of directors
a few hours before, the board decided to suspend the MC till
April 2001. Ameer Ahmed, who is given the special charge of the
Indian School Molada, R.N.Parikh, the Chairman of the board of
Directors and other senior members of the board were present
in the meeting.

EXAMINATION FROM MAY 2002
New Delhi; The government proposes to start holding
All-India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) for admission
to engineering, architecture and pharmacy courses in deemed universities,
central institutes other than those covered by Joint Entrance
Examination (JEE) and institutions in the States and Union Territories
which are willing to join the scheme. The Central Board of Secondary
Education (CBSE) will conduct the first AIEEE on the May 19th,
2002. A number of states have agreed to this at a meeting of
State Education Secretaries (Technical) held here on Monday.

Indian School Board under Fire:
Many Heads to Roll
Muscat - A major reshuffle is going on in the Board
of Indian schools in Oman. At least two senior members of the
Board of Governors are continuing in the Board even after completing
their legal tenure in office.. Similarly, at least two of the
Board of Governors members who have been doing the school auditing
are also under the close scrutiny of higher authorities. Out
of 14 schools, only 2 have produced a balance sheet..Many of
them do not have one ready... Even though Indian community schools
are supposed to be working as non commercial entities by keeping
away vested business interests from the school administration,
many of the schools have been more than commercial enterprises.

Gulf Embassies to Counter fake
passport racket through computerisation
Dubai/Muscat -In order to face the growing problem
of fake passport and visas issued by an international gang which
operates from India and various Gulf countries, the Ministry
of Labour and the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi are
implementing a pilot project o computerise consular services
in eight Indian embassies in the Gulf. Soon the Consular General
of India, Dubai will start issuing computerised passports and
visas on a trial basis. Consular General of India, Dubai issues
the largest number of passports outside India and provide largest
