Miss Kerala International Pageant to be held in Dubai.

Renowned Indipop Singer Alisha Chinoy is expected to perform at the event. Four shortlisted finalists from each country will make it to the catwalk at the final in Dubai. It will provide an opportunity for the talented Gulf Malayali girls and will groom them for greater roles in public life. Kerala Government to set up Technical University:
Kerala Government proposes to set up a Technical University, said Education Minister Nalakathu Soopy in the state assembly. He added that the state has sought central assistance to set up the university as per the reommendations of the State Planning Board.

Well, Keralites are proud when they make claims about 100 per cent literacy in the Gods own country. But a survey has revealed that adequate toilet facilities are not available in 975 Government schools in Kerala, the Education Minister informed the State Assembly. According to a survey, 448 schools in Kerala lack drinking water facility to children. About 432 Government schools are functioning in private buildings, resulting in an annual expenditure of Rs. 6.06 million on account of rent, the Minister said.

M.M.Hassan, the Information Minister wants a code of conduct for journalists to prevent yellow journalism and blackmailing. Prominent leaders like Kunjalikutty of the Muslim League, or P.J.Kurian of Suryanelli case know what is meant by yellow journalism.
High Court notices to Karunakaran, Jacob and 3 IAS officers

A division bench of the Kerala High Court issued legal notices to Congress leader K.Karunakaran, irrigation minister T.M.Jacob, former minister C.V.Padmarajan on a petition challenging the constitution of a high level committee to review the recokmmendations of the vigilence director. The bench comprising Justice B.N.Srikrishna and Justice M.Ramachandran issued the notice on a petition filed by C.B.C.Warrier. N.V.Madhavan, P.J.Thomas and Jiji Thomson, three IAS officers were also served notice in the case. The petitioner argued that all the parties are accused in various vigilence cases and their decision on July 30 to apppoint a high level committee was intended to scuttle prosecution cases initiated by the vigilence.
