Bharath Mohanlal has been selected as the best actor for the sixth viewers Awardof the National Film Academy for his performance in 'Ravanaprabhu'. Academy Director Nithyanand and Jury Member P.Bhaskaran announced that Suhasini got the best actress award for her performance in 'Theerthadanam'. Meghmalar has been selected as the best film -its director Kamal bagged the best director award.

M.T.Vasudevan Nair obtained the best script award for Theerthadanam. Suresh Gopi too got a special award for his performance in Sundhara Purushan. Eee Parakkum Thalika has been the most popular movie. Kochin Haneefa is the best supporting actor for his role in a number of movies. Bindu Panikkar got the best supporting actress award for her role in 'Suthradaran'. Navya Nair was selected as the best debutant actress for her performance in Ishtam.
