Crime Monitor Expatriate Found Dead in Hamariya under Mysterious Circumstances
MUSCAT - March 16, 2003. An expatriate has been found dead in mysterious circumstances near Honda Road in the Ruwi High Street. According to eyewitnesses who found the deadbody early morning, the body of the expatriate in his mid 30s was found in a pool of blood apparently due to a fall from the second storied building adjacent to Al Majid Trading and Contracting and Al Khamis Shoes. The deadbody was found lying looking towards the ground and the face of the victim is totally smashed beyond recognition. There was a pool of blood, and the wooden cover of the two air conditioners were also found near the body. The Police cardoned off the area in the morning and later removed the body. "This person was not staying in this building. We dont know how he came here to jump down from the terrace," said one of the residents in the area. According to neighbours, there are some Bengalis staying in the building.
Apparently the death occured due to the steep fall from the second storied building to the cement floor. The area is inhabited by Bengali expatriates, some of them indulged in petty crimes. It is suspected that the victim, most probably a Bengali national, was murdered as there is no reason to jump from a not so tall building in the populated area. The building in which some Bengalis and the employees of an insurance company are staying is very close to the main road and the murder must have taken place either in the late night or early morning as blood was still oozing out from the deadbody.
KM sources said the murder may be related to the sex trafficking, prostitution racket or the illicit sale of liquor in which many Bengalis and Malayalis are engaged. Sometimes back, a Bengali was found dead due to a simiar fall from a multistoried building in the adjacent business township. Police is investigating the case. The Oman police is very efficient to locate criminals and the mysterty behind the death is likely to be unravelled soon. KM -watch this space.
