Four dead, two injured in explosion at Bhuj

Bhuj, Gujarat, June 25) Four pople were killed and two others injured, one of them seriously, when an abandoned shell used by security forces exploded in a busy area here today when some labourers tried to prise it open.Police said some daily wagers had found the shell near a firing range here and tried to break it open, when it exploded in their hands.

Two people were killed on the spot and as many others sitting under a tree nearby also died.Two wounded people have been hospitalised.The explosion took place at around 1520 hrs on a foothpath near the Kutch Museum opposite the Hamirsar Lake. Such was the intensity of the blast that two cars, part of a car exhibition-cum sale nearby, suffered heavy damaged.

The labourers were slum dwellers staying in hut near the lake.Police rushed to the site soon after the incident and was investigating. A team of forensic experts has also reached the site of the explosion

Trishul Testfied in Orissa

Balasore, Orissa, June 25For the fourth time in a row since last Sunday, the indigenously built sophisticated short range Surface-to-Air missile ''Trishul'' was testfired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea, about 15 km from here today. The Missile, especially designed for the sea-skimming exercise for the Indian Navy, was testfired from a mobile launcher at 1345 hrs, ITR sources said.

Since Sunday the short range missile has been testfired everyday from a mobile launcher inside the ITR complex. A part of the Integrated Guided Missile Development programme, ''Trishul'' with a range of 9 km, was one of the five missiles under various stages of development by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO). -keralamonitor.com
