Pinarayi Restless to hear about VS ..VIP..and Sex Rackets

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Secretary and Politburo Member Pinarayi Vijayan (PV) is touring Dubai in the wake of the VIP issue raised by V.S.Achuthananthan, his class enemy once again. According to the doctor who treated Shary S.Nair, the victim of Kiliroor sex scandal, the girl became restless after the visit of an unknown VIP.. This VIP issue rocked the state politics for sometimes and was the main topic of speculation for the audio visual media for a long period. Now the Kiliroor girl is dead and the issue is almost settled with the main culprits going scot free with the help of a compromise formulae adopted jointly by the ruling and opposition parties. However, the VIP ghost seems to be haunting many including Pinarayi Vijayan, whose restlessless and intolerance about the Kiliroor sex scandal questions was evident during a press conference in Dubai. For unknown reasons PV becomes disturbed on hearing the names VSA, "VIP", sex crimes and Kiliroor. (PV cant tolerate VIP questions) Thrilled by the two election victories and the elimination of dissenting voices from the state party apparatus that raised the ice cream and Kiliroor cases, Pinaray is jubilant .However, he seemed a bit restless when he heard a journalist asking him about the various sex scandals, especially about VS raising the controverisial VIP issue once again. Why is PV so obsessed with VS and VIP issues? Why does he become restless when anyone asks him about the Kiliroor sex scandal and the alleged role of some of his close comrades in it? Is there any hidden reason for black painting VS Achuthananthan as a devil and monster? At a time when he is very close to the chief minister's chair, Pinaray has no reason to worry about the issue..isnt it ?

We have respected communist leaders like Sitharam Yachoori, Prakash Karat or Harkishen Singh Surjeet, who take any critical questions from the media with a smiling face. However, Pinaray becames violent the moment he heard some questions about V.S.Achuthananthan or the VIP issues in the Kiliroor sex scandal. When a journalist asked him about the various media reports that suggested the involvement of the CPM leaders in the Kiliroor sex scandal, Pinaray almost lost his mental balance and unleashed his fury by calling the journalist who raised the issue as "mad" and "mentally sick pervert!!!. Instead of giving any convincing answer, as is expected from any educated and cultured leader, Pinarayi just showed his arrogance and barbarian face and escaped from any further irritating questions using the same old arm twisting tactic used by the mighty party machinery to silence even healthy criticism and discussions.

During his high profile visit, a press conference was organized to discuss the welfare and issues facing the Keralite community in the Gulf. This was the occasion when a journalist asked Pinarayi about the party's position on the growing sex trafficking cases, as reported by a group of left party MLAs during their recent study. It was reported that about 6,000 Keralite ladies are exported every year from Kerala to the Gulf based sex racket and that a number of agents and subagents work in the network. The racket operates within and outside the state. The worst side of the sex mafia was reflected in the Kiliroor, Kaviyoor and Calicut sex rackets. The compromises made by the party leadership to subotage investigation are widely reported in the media. There was no sensible reason for the senior leader's outburst against the journalist, unless and until he was briefed in advance.

Pinarayi went one step further and recommended that the journalist be admitted in a mental hospital for treatment…However, he claarified that it was the journalist who quoted VSA and not Achuthananthan who is mad. Is it the journalist who raised just a question quoting V S Achuthananthan in the media who needs mental treatment? Whenever Achuthanathan brings out the VIP issue as a veiled threat against some comrades or any uncomfortable question is heard from any quarters about the VIP's and his or her alleged links to the CPM leadership, they meet with goondaism, arrogance and hooliganism of leaders like Pinarayi. Office of Crime Magazine edited by T P Nandakumar was ransacked by the comrades who were agitated when the magazine named the VIP and his film making son who are among the alleged culprits. Another leading Malayalam daily office was ransacked by the party members, who often celebrate press freedom days against American imperialist attacks on Iraqi journalists.. It is an open secret that some culprits involved in the sex scandals are smuggled out to the Gulf region One of the senior party leaders son, an aspiring film maker, was involved in the film serial sex scandal network. Often they make secret missions to the Gulf, wine and dine with some comrades…The so called party intellectuals remain mute spectators...Pravasilokam tries to bring back girls who get lost in the sex rackets in the Gulf and back home some of the comrades are deeply involved in the flesh business.

No doubt, some of the top leaders don’t have strong commitment to morality or ideology that E.M.S., Karl Marx or Vladimir Lenin envisaged. Some of these leaders have without doubt compromised with sex traffickers and criminals for personal gains and private deals. Whether it is the fatal liquor tragedy in which Comrade Manichan bribed many senior CPM leaders from top to bottom, or the Kiliroor or Calicut Sex scandals, in which the VIPs and local leaders are suspected to be involved, something seems to be wrong.

Any dissenting voice about the erring leaders' is either silenced or eliminated. The clever leaders speak emotionally about inner party democracy and (mis) and feminism...use the party power and machinery to settle their score. This has happened in the case of M.N.Vijayan, who was for a long time been regarded as a strong party ideologue. The unceremonious exit of such leaders with reasoning and moral standing is nothing new in the party, which is now under the grip of leaders who are notorious for their compromising positions.. The only spirit of class struggle is to eliminate V.S.Achuthananthan from the party and ensure that he is no more an irritant for the smooth compromise formulae adopted by the Pinarayi group with various parties. It has been widely reported in the media, especially in a crime magazine, that the involvement of two senior CPM leaders in the Kiliroor sex scandal is one reason for the compromising attitude that the party leadership adopted in killing the issues.

They compromise with communal leaders who are involved in sex scandals, they compromise with the ruling party for taking advance bail against any investigations...especially about the Kiliroor sex scandal. Those who were deeply involved in the scandals are honoured with senior positions in the party..Pinarayi could systematically eliminate all sensible leaders like V S Achuthananthan, M.N.Vijayan and others who questioned the party's approach in handling the Kiliroor and Calicut sex scandals. A number of reports suggested the involvement of some comrade's and their film addicted sons in the infamous Kiliroor sex scandal. As in the notorious Calicut Ice Cream Parlour case, some of the senior party's leader's relatives are deeply involved. Thanks to the decaying morality and degenerating leadership, those who tried to be on the moral side of the issue are sidelined by those who are in the immoral side. V S Achuthananthan is one such unfortunate leader whose crusade against corruption and sex scandals has been sabotaged by the immoral leaders whose main mission is to remove any obstacles to become the next chief minister. In fact it is not V.S.Achuthananthan who humiliated a prominent leader like E.M.S. but the selfish and power mongering leaders who are always found in compromising positions. That explains the rude intolerance and irritation to take even a slightly critical question. The party mouthpieces are filled with cronies who are silenced with power and position. Elections can be won with landslide margins. Many criminals do get into the assemblies and parliaments without much problem. What is missing is the integrity, moral standards maintained by the respected leaders like E.MS. is missing. It is high time the so called left intellectuals stop playing second fiddle to corrupt leaders. Various party organs, the media too are falling within the grip of such elements…Keep your eyes, nose and ears open and watch..who is in the company of your leaders.. Just before departing to Dubai, Pinarayi made a perverted comment about the E.M.S.Award constituted by a Dubai based organization MASSformed by a splinter group from the party affiliated organization. Even though the splinter group has more popular support and members than the parent affiliate, Pinaray said without mentioning V.S.Achuthananthan by name that such organizations "humiliated" a well respected communist leader like E.M.S.Namboothirippadu by giving an award in his name to low level creature like V.S. Even his opponents in the party know that VS has been a sincere leader who is at least not corrupt.

IRC Pays Diya Money for the Release of Ommen Chandy's Relative

DUBAI - The Indian Relief Committee under the Indian Embassy has successfully raised Dhs. 2 lakhs to bail out Joy Joseph from Puthupally a classmate and relative of Oommen Chandy who was serving a prison term for accidentally killing a Senagal national. The Showel driver could come out of the prison because the state chief minister Oommen Chandy made an appeal for his release and a number of well wishers came forward with generous contributions. Mr.Kumar of the Indian Association and the Releif Committee head is believed to have remitted the required diya money in the Dubai court for his release.. .It is learnd that the the prisoner will be going home by tomorrow. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - Oommen Chandy, the state Chief Minister was adamant during a press conference in Dubai that he could not visit the UAE prisons as he did not want to violate diplomatic protocols. KM sources learn that Chandy did visit the prison and met one of his well wishers (or relative) who is undergoing prison term for killing a foreign national in an industrial accident. Chandy visited UAE On 29th of April in the inaugural flight of Air India Express. He said in a press conference that he could not visit the UAE jails to meet many Malayali lady's and others stranded there due to protocol issue. KM sources reveal that Chandy did secretly visit one of the jails and met one prisoner who happened to hail from his own constitutency Puthupally, Kottayam. The CM visited UAE in the innaugural flight of Air India Xpress and one of his special mission was to bail out the Puthupally man, said to be his relative, who was stranded in in Dubai jail for killing an African national in an industrial accident. Mr. Chandy, without informing any legal authorities officialy, visited the jail with some of his friends who are here and paid the huge amount of dirhams blood money for his release . After Chandy's visit to Dubai, the case of Puthupally prisoner came under the close scrutiny of the Indian Embassy, the Indian consulate and the Indian Community Welfare Committee, which hurriedly convened a press conference to appeal for more community contribution for welfare measures. According to KM sources, the source of Dhs.2,00000 to be paid as blood money to the Puthupally man remains mysterious, especially because Chandy was escorted around by big NRIs and community leaders. While the Indian Consulate has been following a cool approach to various problems facing the Indian community members, especially from the lower strata of society, the active interest shown in the case of prisoner from Puthupally has riased many eyebrows about the source of funding...The Indian Community Welfare Fund, which has been dormant for many years, has become active very soon after Chandy's visit and it made an appeal for more funds. According to the official line, the company where the man worked agreed to pay Dhs.1,00000, half of the blood money and the remaining amount will be collected from businessmen and prominent NRIs. Thanks to Chandy's visit the man will be released soon from the prison. So far so good... A good humanitarian gesture from a Chief Minister for a man from his own constituency.. But wherefrom the money come and is there any relation between Chandy and the prisoner? The question is pertinent at a time when the controversy about many projects is becoming subjects of heated debate in Kerala... and Chandy skipped prison visit for many of the Keralite ladies in the jail and secretly visited his own relative... is it not facouritism..nepotism and ...corruption?

The channel attracts advertisements from various quarters including multinational companies as part of its survival strategy in a fiercely competitive visual media world. The role of Pravasi Lokam, a programme originally conceived and developed by Anazuddin Aziz, a journalist with Gulf Today ( now in London) in uplifting the viewership rating of the channel, especially from the relatively rich non resident Keralites in the six GCC countries is beyond dispute. Compared to the cheap series of pulp serial programmes aired by some of the most prominent visual media companies in the state, Kairali's Pravasi Lokam, anchored by former MLA and Gulf returnee, PT Kunjumohammed, could air the real pain of the average Keralites through its emotion filled episodes that changed the average Keralite's perception about the Gulf dreams...Even though the visual and print media in the Gulf region had been focusing on the affluent and well to do sections of Non Resident Keralites, Pravasi Lokam introduced a new focus on one of the problems haunting many Keralites abroad. The role of comrade P.M. Jabbir, the Muscat coordinator of Pravasi Lokam or Mr. Amanulla of Dubai cannot be ignored. Even though a wide network of volunteers are working overtime to help the average Keralites trapped in various rackets including sex and visa traders, it appears that some comrades or people who pretend as comrades are trying to take up controlling role in such activities. A recent experience of this author at a public function organised by a popular association, which work for the poor and weak sections of the society, was quite surprising. The venue was a seminar on media freedom addressed by eminent intellectuals like Sukumar Azhikkodu, E.M.Ashraf, Pratap Varma and other left intellectual giants. The audience in the Sharjah Indian Association hall consisted of media representatives and members of the association. When the journalist raised a question, referring to a suicide of a Tamil worker, in a labour supply company owneed by a man who had major clout in Kairali TV channel and various associations , there was a total outcry from some of the association members. Even though the question was addressed to the dignitaries like Prabha Verma and Sukumar Azhikkodu, who remained silent, the mob psychology of the audience was quite surprising. Even a senior DALA official was feeling embarassed for unknown reasons.

The question was clearly about the local Malayalam media's reluctance to publish the suicide story because of the undue clout enjoyed by the labour supply company owner. Even though no fingers were pointed at the association or its members, there was a major outcry from the audience who apparently felt "offended". "It is an individual case and this is not the forum to raise such questions," murmered one leader from DALA. One of the activist became too vocal about the issue and picked up a big arguement with the journalist who raised the question. According to the agitated comrade, who said he is running a labour supply network, all the problems facing the working class in Dubai/Gulf is due to unwanted interference by journalists!!! "You call us bourgeoise and create all problems for us," he said. Anyone with a bare minimum understanding of the situation in the gulf will realize that the main problem that creates difficulties for the working class is due to the misappropriation of workers earning by the middlemen like this agitated comrade who run labour supply companies. Such "comrades", read "Manichans" are omnipresent in different forums. Even the banners displayed on such occassion spread the smell of ordinary workers sweat and blood...These labour traders are safe because they wear a facade of class struggle.

While they take Dhs.10 per hour from the employer, the worker gets just one third of that amount! In the case of oil companies the difference between what the worker gets and what goes to the middlemen's pocket is quite big. And the comrade in this episode was so adamant and disturbed that he started narrating his sad stories caused by the workers. He argued that the workers are exploiting labour suppliers like him with the help of journalists!!! No doubt such people too are acting like volunteers and saviours of the working class...There are many middlemen in the Gulf who have become filthy rich overnight by sucking the blood of ordinary workers and denying them basic facilities... In a seminar organised by the party to encourage dialogue and discussion, a journalist will have to keep mum... The journalist who erraneously reported the story in Kairali TV too was pulled up ....Sukumar Azhokodu was saying that journalists should report such stories without fear or favour...Are these forums just to deliver monologue lectures about international problems, without noticing what is happening around? It appears that inner party democracy and theories of contradiction are outdated ... ?

Dubai: A Gulf News reporter was detained at Dubai International Airport yesterday and prevented from travelling to Greece on an official visit following an arrest warrant issued by Sharjah police. Sharjah police had earlier warned Bassma Al Jandaly, staff reporter, and Duraid Al Baik, UAE Editor, over an article published in February about a man who was stabbing women in Sharjah. Immigration officials at the airport detained Al Jandaly after she asked them to investigate why the e-gate could not recognise her fingerprints.
