Roads & Transport Authority launches integrated navigation system in Dubai

March 08, 2006 The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) today (Wednesday, March 08, 2006), announced the launch of 'Dalili' ·a dynamic integrated navigation system to help drivers get real time road and traffic information while they are driving. The move comes as RTA looks to further the provision of safe and smooth transport. The system will aid drivers in avoiding packed roads and will enable them to track optimal routes to their destination.

'Dalili', which in English translates to 'My Guide', works through a simple screen-based device which can be installed in any car. On simply downloading the software, the user will be equipped with up-to-date traffic information anytime and anywhere in the city.
Dalili provides many benefits to users, such as the ability to plan a route according to traffic information and updates received in real
time, comprehensive guidance on unfamiliar roads especially for tourists,
integration with intelligent parking facilities and navigation to various points of interest in Dubai.
Speaking at the conference, Hashim Al Hashimi, Director of Traffic Department at Roads & Transport Authority said, ?ubai has grown immensely as a business hub and a tourist destination. As part of our strategy to
ensure viable means of commuting and safe transport, Dalili is a breakthrough for Dubai? transportation infrastructure.·

system. It will benefit travelers from all realms which include individuals, fleet operators, public transport, commercial vehicle operators and emergency vehicle operators.
"With constant research and development we have been at the forefront of innovation, and are committed to equip the city of Dubai with the
very latest in transport and technological developments.·Al Hashimi

Number of HIV Infected Indian Workers in the Gulf Growing!!!

The number of overseas Indians, especially from the Gulf region, returning to India infected with deadly diseases, especially AIDS is going up. At least within one month three death or hospitalization cases of Indian workers infected with HIV virus are reported in the media. The recent cases include a recent death by a construction worker from Andhra Pradesh who was found dead in front of the Indian consulate in Dubai. According to sources, the man who was reported in the media to have died of Tuberculoisis was in fact an HIV positive patient, who was dumped by someone in front of the Indian Consulate.

"The Andhra worker died of HIV and AIDS. It took several days to identify the man who came to the Gulf with just a passport and visit visa. The number of such people who enter the Gulf job market is going up and it needs to be curtailed," said a social worker. According to another source, an Andhra construction worker who was paralysed and admitted in a Sharjah hospital has also been carrying the deadly AIDS virus. As many of the single construction workers frequent brothels and prostitutes, the level of infection could be much more. Their return to India with infection would cause many problems including alienation from society. In the case of the Andhra worker whose HIV status is known among his peer groups, nobody was willing to accompany the paralysed man to Hydrabad. Social workers dont reveal the cause of death or the actual disease to avoid further problems back home.

The Malayali employer who dumped the HIV infected person sought legal assistance from a leading Malayali advocate as to how to avoid any responsibility for the paralysed man. When no one was willing to sit with or accompany the paralysed man in the plane, various social organization and the consulate officials spotted a man without proper documents who was desperate to go back to India. This case should be an eye opener for beginning of a new chapter in the life of Gulf Indians, at lease those who frequent brothels and prostitutes. They could go back to India without any savings, but a deadly virus. Prevention is better than cure…The large number of unclaimed deadbodies in various Gulf countries is also a matter of concern as some of them are abandoned by their near and dear ones.

Eugenia, a Honduras registered ship sailed from Mumbai with a cargo of 105.753 metric tones of explosives stuffed in 6 containers meant for Border Road Organization Projects in Afghanistan. On the night of December 22, one container kept on the deck fell into the sea at Mumbai coast by tilting of the ship due to bad weather.
