US Embassy Alerts Americans about Safety Precautions in Saudi Arabia.

Following the latest incidents the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia has appealed to the Americans living in the Kingdom that the overall security situation remains unchanged for both official and private Americans. 'All Americans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia should continue to exercise caution in matters concerning personal security. Americans should try to maintain a low profile, vary routes and times for travel, and treat mail from unfamiliar sources with suspicion,' says an alert note from the US embassy in Riyadh. A US Citizen's vehicle was attached with an unfamiliar object, later discovered as an explosive device by the Saudi Police, on Saturday,

"It is also important that any suspicious activity, individuals or vehicles be reported to your sponsoring organization, residential manager and Saudi authorities for appropriate action. Please also ask them to inform the security office of the Embassy or nearest Consulate. License numbers of vehicles and descriptions of individuals are essential for follow up and to make effective identification. Saudi officials continue to cooperate closely with the Embassy to try to ensure the safety of all Americans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," it said.

According to a US Embassy sources, an American citizen working for the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh and his spouse discovered an unfamiliar and suspicious object attached underneath the vehicle, which was later identified by Saudi Police as an explosive device. On Sunday the British Embassy in Riyadh said a suspicious object found attached to the underside of a vehicle owned by a British citizen at the Al Nakheel Residence Compound in Riyadh. The Saudi police removed the object . The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia will remained closed for a few days as part of a pre-scheduled plans. Recently, a British citizen was killed in Saudi Arabia following an explosion.
