SNC Lavlin Case: Minor Graft Case or tip of Iceberg for Major Arms Deal Scandal?
Global Organ Traders Profiteering from wounded, dead Soldiers, War Prisoners In May 2005, there were strong protest marches in Ontaria and other parts of Canada against SNC Lavlin Company for producing and selling bullets and other armaments for the US Military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to Ecocascadio.org, has run a campaign against SNC Lavlin for supplying bullets for occupation of Iraq that killed more than 100,000 men and women after the US invasion. Canadian peace activists have also urged the local governments to stop giving any contracts to SNC Lavlin and urged the government pension funds to withdraw their investment in the company. There were street demonstrations in Ontario against the defence unit of SNC Lavel for supplying bullets to the US army.
According to Canadian newspapers, CEO Jacques Lamarre acknowledged he did not know where the ammunition made at two Montreal-area plants is used by the American military, but said the contract was approved by the Canadian government.
Protesters chanting "No more war machines, no more SNC," argued the company is supplying bullets for U.S. military operations in Iraq. Canadian public did not support the government's involvement in Iraq occupation and the company argued that defense sales accounted for less than 10 per cent of the turnover. Due to strong opposition, the company sold SNC TEC to, hold your breath, General Dynamics, the US defense giant that developed F-16 fighter planes for the US Air Force and other weapons systems. Now SNC-TEC is part of General Dynamics, a defence company that targets $30 billion Indian defence market. Now the company has two defence production units in India -due to its takeover of two defence units.
Headquartered in Le Gardeur, Quebec, SNC TEC is a main supplier of ammunition used by the Canadian Department of National Defence. It also supplies small-, medium- and large-caliber ammunition to the U.S. Defense Department, as well as Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Oman, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. The company also produces pyrotechnics, propellants and explosives for the military; small-caliber training ammunition and related training devices for the military and law enforcement markets. Global Dynamics Enter India to Grab $30 billion defence market
As Obama is contemplating defence budget cuts, GD has opened a liaison office in India in February 2009. The influence of such corporate giant is definitely there in New Delhi. While the CPM leadership claim that SNC Lavlin is a politically motivated case, they do not feel ashamed that the party or its leaders have accepted generosity from a bloody company - part of the funds to finance a cancer hospital could have come from the profit that the Canadian company earned by selling weapons that killed thousands of innocent Iraqis. In Afghanistan, for example, SNC Lavalin-PAE was given a five year, $400 million contract by the Canadian Department of Defense to build and maintain Camp Julien and provide laundry, food and other services to Canadian occupation forces there. Fortunately, the Malabar Cancer Center is not misused by the international kidney racket and organ traders.....

The Kerala graft case is not an isolated case involving SNC Lavlin. SNC was awarded a $50 million postal service reconstruction contract in Lebanon. According to the U.S. State Department, this contract was given “on a basis other than merit.” The contract was awarded to SNC after the Canadian government gave a $925,000 grant to a private foundation run by the Lebanese Prime Minister. As well, the Canadian government gave $281,000 in foreign aid to train postal workers. That money went straight to SNC. The party and leaders who often come in large numbers to protest against US Attrocities in Iraq, Afghanistan and other human rights violations, all efforts by the party machinery to shield leaders allegedly linked to receiving bribery from an international company that profiteer from the occupation of foreign countries and mercenary killings is shameful and demeaning. Prakash Karat and other leaders were vocal in opposing the Indo US Nuclear deal, but seems to be comfortable to shield a company that manufacturers arms and ammunition used to kill innocent people around the world. Conspiracy theories are heard about alleged plans to use some hospitals in Kerala by the international kidney racket for their nefarious activities.
