Behind The Scenes Of The Iraq War
The plan for the Iraq war, which has erupted
in the face of opposition from the entire world, was drawn up
at least decades ago, by Israeli strategists In its attempt to
realize its strategy of destabilizing or dividing the Middle
Eastern Arab states, Israel has Egypt, Syria, Iran and Saudi
Arabia on its list of subsequent targets. As these lines are
being written, the United States of America has begun striking
at Iraq. Despite the fact that most countries of the world, and
even the majority of the USA's allies, opposed it, the US administration
was determined for the strike to go ahead. When we look behind
the scenes of this insistence, it seems that Israel and its powerful
lobby in the US, have the greatest share in the make-up. The

Halliburton gets $ 7 billion Reconstruction
Contract in Iraq without tenders
WASHINGTON, 12 April 2003 The
ugly face of American politicians unholy nexus with big business
is resurfacing in new forms. The Pentagons controversial
decision to give an exclusive no-bid contract to a Halliburton

An interesting report by Mark Fineman in LA

in which the senior US Defense officials have private interest.
The revelation adds credibility to the argument that the US led

US arms trader
to rule post- war Iraq
Jay Garner, the retired US general who will
oversee humanitarian relief and reconstruction in postwar Iraq,
is president of an arms company that provides crucial technical
support to missile systems vital to the US invasion of the country.
Garner's business background is causing serious concerns at the
United Nations and among aid agencies, who are already opposed
to US administration of Iraq if it comes outside UN authority,
and who say appointment of an American linked to the arms trade

Bomb scare creates panic in US, American
targets in the Gulf
The American British Academy
faces bomb scare.
University Night Postponed until further notice
MUSCAT - This morning, March 17th, at approximately
8:50am, the school received a bomb threat via a telephone call
taken by the schools receptionist. Immediately, the school
enacted security procedures that involved (a) sweeping the Hall
to establish a safe zone and (b) evacuating all the
children to the safe zone in an orderly fashion. Also according
to procedure, we contacted the ROP and the American and British
Embassies. We were advised at around 9:30 to clear out the campus
so that the police could make a sweep of the entire premises.
Teachers and staff immediately brought all the children out into
the exterior parking lot, again according to procedure. At around
10:00, it became apparent that the police sweep of the campus
would take several hours. At that point, the administration made
a decision to call into effect plans to gather all the children
at the Rugby Club. The PTA phone tree was activated and parents
and guardians were contacted to take their children home from
there."--Mona Nashman Smith, American British Academy. Muscat.More
"The Week"
turns out to be Weak
The Much awaited launching of "The Week," supposed
to be Oman's First Free Independent Weekly has disappointed many
readers who were expecting something different from what is already
available in the market. Even though the publishers claimed to
bring in a "new attittude to news publication" , people
who are used to the censored news content of the Gulf media have
realized that TheWeek can be better called TheWeak, in terms
of informative news, views or any serious analysis. While the
lead story "Who Is Bahja" is all about a little girl
who was featured as the Mascot of Muscat Festival, (which was
nothing but a Major flop) it is not a major scoop by any standard
to run with a half page headline. More
